View Full Version : Reverse Pass-through (Using wireless iPaq as modem)

I have a laptop without wireless and an iPaq with wireless. I would like to connect the the laptop to the internet via the iPaq wireless capabilities.

In other words:
Laptop --(usb)--> iPaq --(wireless)--> Wireless Router --> Internet

Some kind of reverse pass-through in fact.
Does anybody know how to achieve that?

Just to throw my hat in the ring, I imagine if you run some kind of proxy server on your pocketpc it should be easy.

Now the question is, is there a proxy server for win ce?

Yes, I guess a proxy would work. And, having done my homework, this is the closest thing to a ppc proxy I've found: Airscanner Mobile Firewall

Problem is, it just (soft-)crashes my iPaq 4150...

There is, but it's very rudimentary (read: not even HTTP POST capabilities). Check out http://pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13262 for more info on the same question.

It looks very rudimentary indeed... no POST and no USB link to the PC (needs to use BT). Not for me then.
Thanks for the link.

There're, unfortunately, no other possibilities. You should get e.g. a CF-based Wi-Fi card, so that it is usable in not only your notebook, but also non-Wi-Fi-enabled PDA's. (A problem with all CF Wi-Fi cards though: none of them has an external aerial socket, unlike some PCMCIA models.)
