Well, more like gently disasembled. Since my waranty ran out and my audio jack broke, I decided to take matters in my own hads and fix it. On the way I snapped a few pictures of some PPC guts. (I guess there is a little W?BIC factor in here ) So here they are. Not a clue why I'm posting this, but this is a 'Just Chatting' forum.

Oh and by the way the PPC survived the operation and is much better now; everything seems to be working. Anyone dare guess the model? Five gmail invites with free worldwide delivery go out to the first person who gets the model right.

A pretty fun game :D

I don't want any gmail invites so I am not going to voice my guess (I am positive I know which one it is  )

It would be fun to see a whole bunch of Pocket PC "innards" and try to guess which model they are.

Looks like an Ipaq 2210/15 to me.. I've been thinking about taking mine apart to fix a spotty sd connector and this pic might just inspire me to do so..

That was fast! Where do you want your 5 gmail invites?

Yeah, there is nothing to it. I pretty much knew what the problem was, so I wasnt that nervous about opening it up.

Hmm... I have some kinda old handheld device(s) that I dont even use anymore. That just might be an interesting idea...

This might get interesting.

This following one is a handheld. Thats all the information you get. I think its a little tougher. I masked parts that might easilly give it away.

Can't think of a prise for this one...

Palm Zire, 21 I think. You know the original Zire, white case, B/W display, no backlight.

Prizes aren't necessary, I am just here for the sport

 I think I should've masked it a little more.

Yeah its an AMAZING machine :twak:... oh yeah, its not...

The damn thing is nearly useless. I got it a while back as a prize. 11 people out of almost 1000 won, I was one of them (and it wasnt easy). The top 3 finalists (out of the 11 semi-) got $25,000, 15k and 7k as far as I remember. And the rest of us got this ___ ___ zire.

Maybe I'll sell it on ebay for... the price of shipping.

Ahhhh, I got something else up my sleeve.
Are you up to the challenge Mark?

Not a chance anyone gets this one.

This is also a handheld organizer.

Well, you have succeeded in stumping me :)

I am going to make a guess here,

A Sharp Wizard?

Or

One of the early Casiopias?

What is the leather wallet? Is it a case or is it part of the organizer?

While I was stumbling around looking for clues, I ran across this article (http://www.pocketpclife.com/issuesprint/issue199904/wonderful.html) written by our fearless leader :werenotworthy:

How 'bout that!

320MB CompactFlash cards are now sampling, and IBM has released the 340MB microdrive -- storage is no longer an issue

With capacities like that, the future is definitely bright. :rock on dude!:

Handspring Visor?

(HINT) The leather wallet is part of the device (or it is now).

(HINT) It even syncs to the pc, so it isnt bad at all. But there are no third party applications or a color touchscreen on this one.

(HINT) You can get one for $8.99 through 'buy it now' on ebay.

You really have no chance in getting this one right.

Nope.

That's a pretty interesting article. Im guessing it was written sometime in 1998. Yeah, technology has come a long way.

Handspring Visor?

Nope. :devilboy:

The device is pretty small, 3.5 x 2.25 x .25 inches.

Maybe an early Rex model? The dimensions seem right, but the "no 3rd party software/touchscreen" doesn't fit the Rex.

No can't be a rex...it has a audio outport. Plus a PCMCIA card is 3/8", not 1/4"

It's also got a Dpad and 4 buttons -- the rex only has 4 buttons and no Dpad.

There IS one similarity between this and the rex though -- both use 2 CR2032 button cells.

It's intriguing though...it's not a PalmOS device for sure, because the screen is full-sized...yet I don't know of any device with a full sized screen that runs on button cells...hm...

EDIT: perhaps the REX is right. The earlier REX devices didn't have a touch screen; nor did they have third party software ability. However, they also had less buttons.

Unless this is a rex offshoot with a dpad...no idea what it is.

Oops. Fogot about this thread, sorry.

It is a Royal Vista. I dont know what kind of operating system it has. Probably something Royal came up with. 8)
