Hi, I have my ipaq 3955 (Pocket PC 2002, D-link CF WiFi card), and my windows XP machine in an ad-hoc network.
I have been able to get internet sharing, file sharing, and VNC working on the ipaq. But my probelm comes when I try to use activesync, it keeps logging me in as a guest (although I did get it to work perfectly once yesturday...). But even as a guest it does not allow me to install programs, or explore the files on the ipaq.
I did not have any problems syncing my PDA with my laptop when I used a wireless acces point.
I also practiced setting up an ad-hoc network at home (just got back to the dorms monday) without an internet connection, and I did not have any problems syncing.
