hello,

My ipaq 5450 has told me - Failed to start background reading (status 5 error 102, retcode 0)

I think this is a hardware problem as i have not installed or updated any software/firmware. I am unable to access my ppc though activesync. I have tried reflashing the bios but am unable to due to lack of a partnership. I want to reset everything back to the factory settings. The ppc has a minor dent nr the sync connector which i believe has caused the problem. The unit boots up and seems to work appart from the error msg.

Anyone any ideas how to access the ppc to eneable me to disable the fingerprint reader?

ste6999, read through this (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35830) thread and see if it offers any solutions. If not, I'd consider contacting the manufacturer.

Tried everything, now im going to get a h4150. The 5450 still works as far as i can tell although seeing as ive forgot my activesync password and the fingerprint reader is u/s - its as good as dead, spares!

Thanks for help :)

One more suggestion: try looking for a file in the \Windows directory called Biowipe.dat, and try deleting it. Then soft-reset your device.

Otherwise, the h4150 is a great device. :way to go:
