Before you take a swig of that Santa Ynez Valley Petite Syrah, hadn't you better know what you're getting into? Will you describe the subtle aromas of your wine in the style of my uncle ("Smells like someone's armpit"), or will your highly trained, discerning snout be able to pick out the delicate aromas of shaved almonds, velvety peaches and just a hint of pork? Beats me how all that stuff gets in there when it all starts as grapes, but hey, it sure tastes nice! ;) Oenophiles may now commence the (smoky, slightly asphalt-flavoured) flaming.
