Wow. No idea if and when it'll ever come out -- the word "concept" presumably means Samsung themselves only have a few prototypes.

The prototype you picture kind of looks like the i730 which appeared recently on the FCC's site. The only difference is that it has a numeric pad instead of a keyboard. It could be that this was an early prototype for the i730 but they added a keyboard after the success of devices with keyboards. Also this device has a couple extra buttons.

That's so hot! 8O

I shall begin praying immediately that it comes to the market! What's the screen size on that baby...looks pretty small, but for a device that size with those amazing features I could live with a small screen.

Come on, Samsung...don't let me down!

8O Wow. One word... Sweet.
That's 8) 8) 8) 3 times over. Now if only these things would just stop being "concept" devices all would be right with the world again. :D :D :D

YES!!! :ppclove: Sign me up for one of these sweet hearts! This is one of the first PPC phones that seems to really hit some nice points - the dedicated number pad being one of them. I never really warmed up to the idea of an on-screen keypad, since it seemed like you would forever have a dirty, smudged screen.

I really like the size and form factor of this unit - it looks to be about the "right" size for me - reasonable sized screen to see and get work done on, but yet small enough to slip into a pocket quite comfortably. The recent release or introduction of these smaller units, like the BenQ 50 (?), are looking good. The MPx is starting to look like a non-starter, especially if they can't get it released quickly, and with a reasonable amount of RAM.

Suddenly the Pocket PC Phone Edition world is looking more pocket-able!

It has the potential to sway me away from the Microsoft Smartphone platform. :?

Unfortunately by the time I saw this and followed the link Memzee, the Moderator had removed all photos posted by Bios following comments in the thread by some guy 'unknownhere':

"In the past we have only removed info/pics if the company involved requests it. But considering Eldar isn't here, and the amount of info posted I'll remove it for now.
I have the pictures saved, and can upload them again if Eldar feels it's appropriate when he gets back."

New Years resolution: I must be quicker! :(

By the way: Happy New Year folks!

I never thought I would like a phone edition device but I could see myself getting this one. Hope it comes out. :D

reasonable sized screen to see and get work done on

I guess I get to be the lone dissenting vote so far. But to me, that screen looks puny. Other than that it looks way cool, but the small screen size would make it a no-go for me.

It looks like Microsoft is going to have a new monopoly soon with these smartphones. I can't see other phones based on linux, palmOS or simbian having a chance to compete here. These smartphones are getting smarter and smaller ! :D

The unit is tiny -- measuring 5.5" x 2" x .94" and weighing 4.7oz --

Funny, my retired Kyocera 6035 (a very old smartphone for you youngins) measures 5.5" x 2.3" x .94" (and weighs about a pound) and I never considered that tiny 8O . Don't get me wrong, this baby has a whole lot more under the hood, but it's still an ineffective PDA (not much screen) and a giant cell phone.

Guess it's a good choice for someone who does not use a PDA or a cell phone very much.

BTW, compared to this "tiny" device, at 5.125" x 3" x .6" I don't think people can call an hx4700 a brick anymore.

You know someone from the 'two device  or die" camp had to comment on that tiny statement.

Yeah, 5.5" is not tiny. That's pretty long. The weight is pretty good though. I'm still waiting for the i-Mate JAM.
