Okay I am wondering if such a beast exists - I want to find some type of software that runs on Windows Mobile 2003 that then talks to an add in cf card (sd card or any other connection is fine too) that would have 2 in line ethernet jacks that would do all of the following -

Off network cable testing -
Length measurment of cables -
Ping -
Verify number of clients and major components on the network -
Run most standard network testing items.

Also somethign that comes with a loopback plug would be great too.

I have seen things like IPer (no notice on the webpage if it works with 2003) and a few other network tools that look promising but there is nothing that is all inclusive as I am wanting. I definitely have not see anything that gives lengths of cables.

Basically I have used a Fluke Nettool and I am looking for something that works along those lines but 1) has less of a cost than this individual unit and 2) hooks into something I already own making what I have to carry around with me less.

See - http://www.flukenetworks.com/us/LAN/Handheld+Testers/NetTool/Overview.htm for what I am used to and let me know if you know of anything that may match it. Even if its in the 800$ range that would beat the 1k+ of the Fluke device.

Thanks in advance.

How about $450? The Fluke MicroScanner Pro (http://www.flukenetworks.com/us/Cabling/Residential+and+Basic+Testing/MicroScanner+Pro/Overview.htm) seems to fit your requirements.

The only thing is this is yet another device I was hoping to make the purchase an add-on to a Pocket PC by using the CF or SD slots to add in ethernet connectivity and some software. Anyone else with some ideas?
