But, so far Excel is the only way I found to organize my collection, it the only way I get update my list on both my iPAQ or my PC...

If I had my stuff catalogued, I'd probably use ListPro (http://www.handango.com/ampp/store/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&amp;jid=3XB411472X7X7C888CB9EA7EC1C58X21&amp;platformId=2&amp;productType=2&amp;productId=9437&amp;sectionId=0&amp;catalog=30&amp;topSectionId=-1) to do it. It'd require a ton of data entry, but it's so flexible.

I remember PARADE magazine pushed it heavily; there were barcodes at the end of articles that you could swipe and it would take you to a website with more information. I guess they figured people wouldn't bother typing in URLs. Anyway, these scanners were given away either free or for a pittance. And very soon hacks started appearing which would allow people to use them to scan books, CDs, and movies to create their own databases. It was a serial device, but it worked quite well. I think I tossed mine ages ago.

I use Ant Movie Catalog (FREE): http://www.antp.be/software/moviecatalog

I simply add all the titles of the movies on the PC, let the Internet Movie Database update with synopsis, ratings, etc. and then export to an HTML file that includes a thumbnail of the movie cover that can be imported and viewed easily on a PPC.

Funny you mentioned this! I have a cuecat on my Christmas list! I have been waiting for a solution like this but I think $300 is ridiculous. You could get a cuecat for $5-$10 and this software which works with listpro

Delicious library (http://www.delicious-monster.com) has been out for a while on the Mac. I use my iSight to scan the barcodes of books, dvd's, cd's, ps2 games. The Amazon database is used by the software.

What I like is that I can scan items as I lend them out, so I know who has them.

Have you guys checked out DVDProfiler? I've been using that for quite some time. Even wrote a nice little SprintDB database so I export a CSV to my PPC and with a click of a button it imports all my movies, puts them in a nice list format and gives me a count of how many DVDs I have. It even captures most of the detailed information that I want (no cover art though).

Cuecat? Is Digital Convergence still around? Isin't that the scanning device that was lambasted back in 2000 by privacy groups? When the user activated the cat ( the scanner was locked until the user gave either Radio Shack or Digital Convergence their name, address and email address ) its software followed all your internet tracks, and unlike a cookie, there was no way to delete or disable it?

That was long ago, so maybe I'm wrong. :mrgreen:

That software looks AWESOME...too bad I don't have a Mac. Sometimes I wish developers on the Windows platform were more creative, and more adept at clean, functional user-interfaces. :cry:

I truly feel like an idiot having to post there here on PPCT, and I honestly doen't mean to take this thread OT, but I am having EXTREME difficulty purchasing DVD Profiler.....I'm hoping an existing registered owner of DVD Profiler can either help me, or get word to their support that I'm having trouble. Here is an email I just sent to an email address I'm not even sure exists ([email protected]) or if I'll get a response to:

"I downloaded DVD Profiler and liked it, so I decided to buy it. To buy it, I have to sign up, which is fine, but the first part of the sign-up process is that Intervocative sends me an email. I NEVER get that email. I've sent it to two different email accounts, one of which the ONLY spam filtering is Outlook 2003 (which moves any suspect mail to its Junk Email folder, and DOESN"T delete it). Frustrating, but fine. So I go to your website to contact you....there is NO contact information. Frustrating, but fine. I go to your website to open a support trouble ticket.......I can't do that without registering which sends an email I'm not receiving!! Frustrating, but fine. I go to your website to post in your user forum for help. I can't do that without registering which sends an email I'm not receiving!! FRUSTRATING!!!!!!
