When visiting family during the happy holidays (as they are called these days), you need plenty of reading material - and preferably free as you will have spent all your money on Christmas gifts.

Note that Fictionwise gives away three free classics until the 19th as listed here: http://cebooks.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_cebooks_archive.html#110309501094665426. They are multiformat, so no DRM or other nasties.

If you are too lazy to press the scroll wheel or tap the screen to change pages: Audio books - well, plays - may be for you: The Sherlock Holmes Society has tons of MP3 radio plays from the 30ies as linked to here: http://cebooks.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_cebooks_archive.html#110318450383101515.

I like the audio plays.

Yes, it is like going back in time to a fog-infested London.

On the subject of free books... (they usually don't work for me.. I either have them/ read them,) but e-reader (Palmdigital) is giving away a book a day, and for the Sci-Fi buff, Baen Books has quite a library of free books that the authors have released so that new readers can start at the beginning of their series'.

Do you know if the book, "And then there were none," by Agatha Christie can be found somewhere online free? It can be in any format, really...
.txt, .doc, .pdf, .lit (that's Microsoft Reader, right?).
And while I'm asking, how about any other books from her?
Thanks, have a good day!

All Agatha Christie books are copyrighted apart from these two http://www.blackmask.com/cgi-bin/newlinks/page.cgi?g=Mystery%2FAgatha_Christie%2Findex.html&d=1

Fictionwise has the one you are after for $6:

JorgenThe Sherlock Holmes Society site has been "Thoughts'd". The MP3 section is down. :devilboy:

Probably. I checked at the main page. The link to the radioplays is still the same, so it is not because they have changed their minds.

UPDATE 26/1: They still have exactly the same link on their main page. Emailed the administrator 22/1, but not received any answer. :(

Anyone know what Tweaks2k2 and e-reader vga brute force hack do to each other? I now have my Dell Axim x50v and loading my programs in it.. I find that MS reader (when I can activate it!), loads clear and sharp without a hack but e-reader and mobipocket aren't clear. I applied the hack to e-reader, and nothing changed until I downloaded a couple of new books, and then the font was great, but huge... about 16 or 18, andthe bookshelf doesn't have room to display the open tab. The opposite happened with mobipocket.. the icons are tiny, and the font comes up to about 10 as the largest. I can live with that, as the type is really clear, but I can't undo the hack (or at least it didn't take) on the e-reader, so I can't open a book. I can select it but there is no open tab.
Do I need something else, like S_Vga?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure why you can't undo the hack in ereader. If I understand it correctly, all the hack does is add a small file to fool the OS into thinking an app is hi-res-aware. I don't think the hack works on the latest version of ereader. It does work quite well on version 2.4.1, but I'm not sure where it's available now. For a while someone had posted a link to it on Brighthand, but I don't know if it's still there.

I waited for a while, and then ran tweask2k2 again, and it finally took off the hack. The unit is being replaced, so maybe there are more issues than the wireless one going on. Now I'm back to fuzzy print. but I can access them. I searched my harddrive, for e-reader and a new copy downloads with every purchase so all I have found is 2.5.2> Maybe it just upgrades the other versions.
