I've been waiting to get one for awhile now, they dont seem likely to come down for abit yet in the UK, so gonna have to fork out £340. Just wondered if anyone had an unwanted coupon to get a discount :) . Im a student so need all the help I can get. Cheers.

Before you take the plunge, the Loox 720 is better, and the fujitsu siemens store is offering it with 9 months interest free credit (buy now, pay later)

shop fujitsu-siemens - lowest Loox 720 UK price yet...!
By Duncan - November 23, 2004

One of our members - P8RSON - e-mailed to tell us about an online vendor specialising in Fujitsu-Siemens products - shop fujitsu-siemens. He says of them:
Besides the fact they are geared up for FS items, they also offer:-

1. FREEPHONE Service on 0800 161 3060
2. Buy-Now-Pay-Later service

I have spoken with two members of their site (Darren & Stuart) who both seem very knowledgeable towards equipment.
On taking a look I found that there is another reason to be interested in them - their prices...! They are currently offering the Loox 720 for just £356.47 (which I'm fairly certain is the best UK price so far). They also have the Loox 710, 420 and 610 available - all for very low prices - and a selection of accessories.

Of further interest - they also have links to PDF copies of the Loox 420 and 720 reviews from the PDA-friendly UK magazine PC Pro).

also considering Dell 50v vs. IPAQ 4705, why did you like the Dell better?

I wish someone had mentioned before I ordered my Axim that the bigger battery (and you'll want this - the VGA is pretty but thirsty) is double the size of the regular one, and comes with a bumped-out battery cover. It won't fit in the standard case (e.g. the Rhinoskin case Dell sells) w/the fat battery. Battery life w/the regular battery isn't great, so it's worth the trade-off. Other than that I'm quite happy.

I had the chance to look at a 4705 and didnt really like the look of it, plus the unit on demonstration had frozen and wouldnt respond which wasnt good. Out of the current vga offerings I prefer the looks of the x50v.

Spec's for both are very similar, prices are similar.

Out of the other choices, the loox and toshiba(which name I forget), the prices are more expensive, also not very good feedback from people who have bought them.

Weighing up each offering pro's and cons, plus reading postings about them, I decided it was the right choice.

Most of us are waiting for the Mugen battery. It has a reputation of maintainng the same standard battery size but with higher capacity. No details yet, only a "It's coming!" hint from manufacturer :D.
