I am looking for software which will enable me to copy all of the addresses and phone numbers from my mobile phone using the infrared connection to keep as a copy on my PPC (2002) as a backup. I also want it to enable me to be able to change all of the numbers into international numbers ie. to add the +44. I did use a programme which did this on my Psion, but can't remember what that programme was. Can anybody advise me please.
Thanks.

Mobem mPhone (http://www.mobem.com/) may be what you're after. It's a little old but still does the job well, but be sure to check the phone compatibility list before testing it out.

Thanks Darius, I have read about that programme from the info. you sent, but, I don't see that it enables you to change all numbers to, or from, international numbers, ie. adding or removing the +44.

I know from experience that it doesn't work with the Motorola v600

Unfortunately, Mobem hasn't been updated in a long time so I doubt it'd support any of the newer phones either.

Thanks TopDog but that programme looks as if it is mainly for sending SMS messages. I appreciate the help.

Actually, it does. Even the newest phones use standardized interfaces to send/receive SMS/numbers via BT. It's just logo/ringtone editing that may be not working with newer models - which isn't a big problem if you only want to transfer PIM data/SMS messages.

I've even written a thorough review of all the available phone managers ( http://www.pdamania.hu/content/1840). Unfortunately, it's non-English. Few people understand a scarce Finno-Ugric language, so I may update/rewrite it into English when I have some free time.

Yes. I've noticed that. A few months ago when I was trying out Mobem, it refused to communicate with the new phones I have lying around the house with respect to logo/ringtone editing. Contact management wasn't a major drama though.

I never tried it with the Ring tone function. Its true that it worked with the PIM information but not with SMS.

I wrote to mobem about the v600 and the only reply that I got back was "wait for upgrade".

Does anybody know of any other mobile phone software for PDA's, mainly as a backup and edit all when necessary?

Pocket phone tools is pretty good:
http://www.bvrp.com/ENG/products/pocketPhoneTools/feature.asp

It's the next generation of WinPhone, and it's made by the same company/integrates with the BT phone manager pre-installed on the iPAQ hx4700, if that matters to anyone. :-)

It's pretty good, but I seem to have some trouble downloading my contacts over bluetooth. Brand new phone though, so it might just be me. :-)
