Hello all :)

I will soon have a pocketpc that supports WiFi, and I am wondering how do I connect it with my pc via wifi? I know that I need to have a wireles card, and what else?
And there is one more thing, I am also planing, when I get a wireles card,to connect with it to the internet via wifi internet providers in my city...
And I am also curious will I be able to connect to the internet directly via wifi internet providers without using my pc??

Hi everibody!!!

Regarding to the first issue I have to say I'm not an specialist, however I do know that you could connect your Pc and PocketPc via Wifi. As much I can tell you is that you would need an avalaible wireless network and then configurate it to share files. I donīt know how to setup the network but I'm sure you could read something related to this topic in this web's forums. Ah!!! There is some more information... Upon you get the network configurated you can use Resco File Explorer, which is the best program to share information betweeen your Pc/Laptop and your handheld.

Secondly, of course you can connect with your PDA + Wifi Card to the internet via wifi internet providers throughout your city. It's much more easier than operation above: I recommend using pocketwin program (you can get from Cirond's web 30 days free trial) that will enable to find all the avalaible wifi networks and whether they are not secured to connect to them. It's superb connecting to the internet while being in the street...
Nevertheless, if the network's link quality is power enough and you know the hotspot is located you should be able to connect to the internet only switching the PDA and the wireless card on.

Best Regards.

You will need to add wireless functionality to your PC as you stated. You can usually get a USB dongle to add this functionality, if you're looking to make an ad-hoc connection only (two computers only). From there, you will need to set up a network on your PC. Have a look at this (http://www.geocities.com/grieg_winter/adhoc/index.html) - it may be of some help.

As long as your Pocket PC is equipped with Wi-Fi, you will be able to connect to these public networks. Some providers require you to establish accounts though, so bear that in mind. Also, some networks require you to have a network key to connect.
