You can connect via two ways: wired (e.g. USB) or wireless (e.g. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).

Establish a connection and you'll be given the option to create a partnership or to connect as a guest. It's quite self-explanatory really - the wizard should help you out. Alternatively, your device's product documentation usually has a quick step-by-step guide on showing you how to get up and running within a matter of minutes.

Let's make this easier for people getting into Pocket PCs...

To connect to ActiveSync, you plug the Pocket PC into the computer using the cable/cradle your Pocket PC came with. Your computer will tell you what to do from there.

Just to be perfectly clear, you first need to install ActiveSync - it should come on a CD that you got with the Pocket PC. Install it and follow the prompts...

To make it even more clear... it is probably better to go to the Microsoft site and download the latest version and load it into your computer.

Jason's advice is the most important. The latest iPAQs come with several large warnings to NOT connect your device before installing active-sync. Apparently if you do not heed these warnings both the iPAQ and your PC will self-destruct.
