Designed to offer optimal configurations of performance, enhanced security, connectivity and expandability, this new series will satisfy a variety of needs whether it is for business or just for yourself. With this new series, you will be able to choose the model that best meets your individual needs."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/2700-series-a.JPG" /> <br /><br />Dave's iPAQ, being under the HP NDA, has posted information about the new hx2000 line. Nothing new there - it's all been leaked previously. Makes you wonder why HP alienated so many Web sites just to "protect" this information, doesn't it? Anyway, the devices look good from a memory standpoint (one model has 128 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM - nice!) but no VGA. :?

This was my 'must have' PDA (to bring me back from my Treo 600), but without the VGA screen I couldn't pull the trigger...I just ordered a ASUS a730w instead.

All I'm asking for is reliable Alarms...my reason for leaving PPC's in the first place.

but no VGA. :?

Which proves that I think OEMs are intentionally trying to keep some of the specs out of the fry so people will have something to upgrade to in 6 months. This just pisses me off. Would it be so impossible to offer VGA in ONE device that has 128/128?!?!? :frusty:

Apparently it is. Most 'high end' devices only have 64Mb RAM remember.

Totally agree. Having tasted VGA I won't go back. Many folks I've shown the screen to say that they would now actually consider a PPC and can see why you would want one as well as/instead of a smartphone.

Limiting the number of new VGA devices is incredibly short sighted. QVGA should soon be for very cheap units only. With VGA availible, why would you want QVGA, unless cost *really* was an issue?

This sounds very optimistic. There has been many many new products launched (just like this one) just recently, all without VGA. It looks like qvga will be with us for at least another year.

I love the look of this pocketpc. It reminds me of my old HP 568. It even has a flip cover. Pity they have not advanced ALL the features. I wonder why....

Two steps forward, one step back.

Notice the use of the word 'should' there Surur. I know QVGA will be around for a while, more's the pity. :? VGA is something that could really boost PPCs. Without it, many folks see the PPC as just a glorified organiser. With it, a whole new experience opens up.

Just to clarify any issues, it appears that Dave's iPAQ is referring to a possible US introduction of the models. I posted on the EU introduction of these models some time ago. You can read about it here (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34511). :)

HAHAHAHAHA how TYPICAL of HP

you guys don't see it YET?

they give you something really good (like 128+128) but lack something else (like VGA)

hahahaha - you still need 2-3 HP (each priced HP-like) TOGETHER to match the best of the other brands

thank you HP for proving my point ONCE more

you (you know who am talking to) now run and buy the new HP because HP says so

sheep (no no I am not talking to you sir, talking to the sheep next monitor)

At least they confirmed the CF slot.

What would seem very useful to me is a VGA screen in landscape mode running terminal services with no borders and a point device plus keyboard. A VGA screen in an MPX type device would be ideal.

Now, about the new iPaq... it seems HP is doing market research with devices deviding features among products to see what people want and are willing to pay for. I see no reason why not all features can be included.

The high end version is cool, if it had VGA... Sorry guys, I won't bite.

I can upgrade the Dell X50v and make it comparable, and it will still be cheaper than what HP will charge for their model.

This would have replaced my 5555 if it was VGA. I guess I should thank HP for reminding me to hold out for the next real OS update before buying new hardware.

So close...

This would have been my next PPC to replace my iPAQ 2215 but for two things. No VGA is the biggee. The second thing is the buttons. Why do what looks like overlapping buttons? It looks good, but I don't get it, it has to be awkward and terrible for games.

This has got to be a personal conspiracy by all manufacturers. I've been shopping for a car for years, but could never find a car with all the options I wanted (for the price I wanted). I'm 42 now so I was considering a Lincoln LS. Very nice looking four door that is supposed to be sporty. The car comes with a V6 or a V8. I have to have a stick shift, but only the V6 had a stick. Damn Lincoln. I like the Subaru STI for it's 300hp turbo engine and all wheel drive, but it is ugly as sin. I ended up getting a 350Z, which is an awesome car, but I still feel like I compromised.

It always seems like it is obvious to us what PPC manufacturers should make. Why they don't do it is beyond me.

I picked up a used Tosh e800, but had to sacrifice Bluetooth. The Socket BT SD card doesn't work with the e800.
