OK, I just got my x50v (wow is VGA easier to read!) and my one problem here is that I can't get PocketNav to run on it. I really liked PocketNav, it was the most simple way to shutdown unneeded apps that I ever found. Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar task switcher that will work on SE and VGA units?

Try Wisbar Advance 2 from Lakeridge Software.

Spb Pocket Plus (http://www.handango.com/ampp/store/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&javaDevice=BlackBerry%207780&jid=DE65AAAX3X295A92A34CD275B15FX938?siteId=311&javaDevice=BlackBerry%207780&jid=DE65AAAX3X295A92A34CD275B15FX938&productId=50351) works great on my iPAQ hx4705. :D

I like Wisbar Advance 2 as well, but it's not free and really is a lot more than a task switcher. The free product I like best on both the 4700 and the X50v is Magic Button. It gives the added benefit of displaying minimized apps on the title bar to make it easy to jump back and forth between running apps (though it doesn't use VGA icons for this).

You can download Magic Button from http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/?lang=English

Good luck!

You know the Dell comes with Switcher Bar in ROM. You can start it from the Settings screens and can make a shortcut to put in the Startup folder so it starts at each soft reset. It does work and it is free.

True, I forgot about Switcher Bar . I did use Switcher Bar for a day before getting the Wisbar Advance 2. If all you need is a quick way to select or close app, Switcher Bar is sufficient.

I owne Wisbar Advanced and it does seem a little unstable. Check out Magic Button 1.7 (Free!) from TranCreative (www.trancreative.com). They have some other nice application, like MxConverter, as well.

I appreciate all the suggestions!

I played around with the built-in SwitcherBar for awhile. It forced me to confirm shutdown on most apps: "Are you sure you want to end Pocket Word" or "are you sure you want to end Internet Explorer" etc.

Now I'm using Magic Button and it seems great! Simple. Free. Makes the X actually close. Very nice. Thanks for the tip!

Also, I really like the .cab install for Magic Button! I hate having to activesync and setup for every app I want.

I used both WB Advanced and SPB pocket Plus and have settled into SPB over Wisbar. Not as much overhead, and I love the additional features like quick launch bar, IE enhancements, etc.
