We saw new programs coming out just to allow users to overclock their Pocket PC, from freeware programs which simply changed the CPU speed to more sophisticated solutions like Pocket Hack Master which allowed for a managed CPU scaling approach based on CPU load, but with a hard to understand interface.<br /><br />Just this month (November 2004) Pocket Hack Master was completely redesigned. The software now has a much better interface, and an easier to use menu system. When minimised it simply offers the options to change speed or restore the program to the foreground. The program also introduces the concept of Favourites. You can only select a speed once it has been tested and approved. Only then you can tap-and-hold the speed and add to your favourites. And only these Favourites can be used when changing speed or scaling."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/logsdon_20041115_phm2004.jpg" /><br /><br />Geekzone gives Pocket Hack Master 2004 the squinty eye, and does a good job of explaining the complicated bits of the program. With a program this powerful and complex, a guide is a very good thing indeed. I've been using this software for about two weeks now and I really like it. What do you think?

I love this program... and I think that Anton has done a lot to simplify it for the average user... I would recommend it to anyone interested in o/c their device. Anton has taken alot of the potential problems out of the average users hands... by taking the thinking process out of it.

Run the profile... choose your clock speeds... and your done. Unless you want to specify speeds for individual programs... that is all an average user needs to know. Anton did a great job... and created a visually beautiful interface in the process. The only thing is that choosing the settings may not be as intuitive as it could have been... but all in all... a wonderful program for the average user.

And, it's bundled with Pocket Mechanic and on sale at PocketGear today. I got it!

Pocket Hack Master 2004 is considerably easier to use, while the speed settings have not cause device lock ups. Currently my Dell Axim X5 Basic is running on the 597 MHz setting!

Has anyone tried this on a 4705?

I'm using on my 4700. Works fine so far. But, it doesn't seem to work with SE_VGA. I set it to run automatically at startup, and had to hard reset.

Any input from 2200 users regarding the highest stable speed they have been able to run using this program?

Thanks,

I'm not sure if it's the same developers, but "HackMaster" back in the days of Palm was one sweet app. I had my Palm m105 crusing at over 30Mhz!!

i tried and uninstalled the program. 530 mHz was just fine but 590 didnt work

BTW does anybody know the difference between the run mode and the turbo mode?

Ok I bought it and like it a lot. I haven't had the guts to try SE_VGA yet though. :worried:

No that just means that particular speed wont work on your device.

It works OK as long as you don't set it to run at the startup. So uncheck "start automatically" option and run manually and you will be fine.

Well, it's kinda complicated. Run vs turbo mode will Nx the clock speed based one of the LNM (i think those are the letters used) values. So if the clock speed you are using has N set to 2 the turbo mode will be say 400MHz and run mode will be around 200MHz. however if the setting you are using has N set to 1 then your turbo mode will be 400Mhz and your run mode will be 400MHz.... see? ;)

I think it is the N that it uses.. it may be the M. It's been soo long since i messed with that stuff. If you use the preset profiles you won't have to worry about it. :)
