There is such a wealth of info here on this website!!! :) :) :)

I'm looking for an English dictionary for my PPC. I would love to have a Webster's but I'm not sure that I can get one that is not on an SD card. I have a 1GB sd card to load a dictionary on to.

What do you all think is the best dictionary out there for the PPC?

I use TranCreative WordBook (www.trancreative.com).

I like it. I didn't do a lot of comparison shopping when I got it though - it just suited my purposes.

there is a free dictionary from www.mslit.com. there are also spanish dictionaries. it may not be what you want right now but it's functional and effective.

pocketdict from cellosoft is what i am using. first of all its free but hear the best part:
it has two databases, one is 9 megs, the stripped version and the full version is 30~megs. you can use whichever you want and the database can be installed on a storage card.

Try for WordNet CE. It's got a 145000 word database and is 100% free. You'll find it with a Google.

The database is about 40 MB but you can put it on a storage card.

Without recommending a specific product, I'd just like to add that you should avoid anything that has less than about 100,000 words in its database. Anything less than that and the chances are you'll have a pretty good idea of the meaning of the word anyway.

Slightly off-topic, the biggest I've seen is the Websters Third New International Dictionary (unabridged) for Palm, it has 476,000 words and hogs 37 MB, and costs almost $70!

I'll second the recommendation Lextionary, but with a few caveats:

1) The current version (v2.0) renders text very blurry on my X50v's VGA screen.

2) I'd prefer a dictionary that was abridged...I don't need my kids being exposed to a lot of unnecessary filth in the English language

3) There are still words that aren't in Lextionary that I come across in classical American literature.

It doesnt look blurry on my iPAQ 4700 VGA screen, looks the same as Microsoft Reader e-books in cleartype which I quite like.

I'll second Wordbook 3. It's currently my dictionary of choice, small footprint for the size of the dictionary and has a very good interface for navigating the various features such as crossword helper, wildcard searching and study lists. The company are excellent in their support as well.
