I haven't bought this PDA but I was thought about doing so. But it largely depends on some features, and another feature I don't know much about. What is the battery life like on the X30 624 MHz and X30 312 MHz? I was thinking of buying the iPAQ rx3715 because it is fast, has a camera, and has a very large battery life. But the X30 is so much cheaper. What are your opinions?

The X30 is a very nice machine and a great value. I have the 312Mhz model with Wifi/BT. I guess your comment on the camera is important. If you need/want one, add $100 to the price of the X30 to add an SD one to your purchase, then compare.

You'll find that because of the CPU speed throttling, the 624 mhz will scale back to 312 mhz quite often, so the battery difference isn't that much.

I used an X30 for a long time and I really like it!

I see... the x30 must be a big bang for the buck...

Absolutely! It's a bargain and the price is getting lower now that the X50's are out. Don't know how long that will last though.

I'm a brand new X30 owner. After a lot of research I decided on the 624Mhz model and am absolutely loving it. There is definitely a battery life difference between it and my old iPAQ 3900 series, but it's not horrible, especially as Jason said, the CPU throttles down.
All in all, it meets every need I have.

I ordered the X30 High but returned it after two days of playing with it. It functioned well enough, but it felt really awkward in my hand because of its boxy design (I've used the curved and thin iPAQ 1910 for 18 months). I didn't like its lightweight feel, either.

I since replaced it with the Dell X50v, and find it to be a much nicer device. It feels great, the VGA screen is superb. Yeah, it cost $200 more, but for me, it's worth spending the extra money to have a device I really like toting around. A PPC, more than any other computing device, I think, becomes a very personal choice. You not only have to like its asthetics, but it has to feel good and perform well, too.

Well, if you have to decide between the X30-624 mhz and X50-416 mhz which are priced almost the same, and have the same size of RAM/ROM:

Choose the X30, if you want more raw power (624mhz!) or wifi, and dont mind the slightly awkward boxy design.

Chose the X50, if you need the CF slot or the mediaplayer 10.

Shez this is a tough decision. Really hard. I wish HP would come out w/a PDA that is exactly like the H2215 but with a much faster CPU, 1650 Mah battery, 128 MB RAM, wi-fi and camera. If I do decide to sell my ASUS a730, I will probably buy the rx3715 because of its camera and 8 hour battery life (7 hr w/wi-fi, .5 brightness).... still tough though. You know on eBay the x30 high is selling for $200? I think... pretty cheap.

Chose the X50, if you need the CF slot or the mediaplayer 10.

Actually, the ROM update for the X30 installs WMP 10, so that is no longer a point of differentiation.

I have a friend who owns an X30 (624mhz) and he couldn't be happier. If wireless is used normally and CPU set to 'auto' the battery life is quite good.

If you feel you need CompactFlash or a VGA screen, consider the X50 or X50v (VGA).
