<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.hp.com/go/pocketpcprint' target='_blank'>http://www.hp.com/go/pocketpcprint</a><br /><br /></div>HP made a lot of people happy a while back when they released their HP Mobile Printing for the Pocket PC tool (especially since it was free!). For those of us who occasionally need to print directly from our devices, it was a very welcome step. Now, HP has made mobile printing even simpler with its release of an updated (version 4.0) Mobile Printing application.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/adrian/hp-print.jpg" /><br /><br />The nicest feature of this updated version is that it's not really a separate application any more. All you have to do is locate the file you want to print with File Explorer, tap-and-hold on the filename and <i>VOILA!</i> the print option appears in the drop-down menu.<br /><br />Installation is a snap. In fact, I neglected to uninstall the earlier version and this new one installed right on top of it without any problems. Within a matter of about 60 seconds after installation, you should be able to get it configured and ready to go. <br /><br />Like the earlier version, this works great with infrared, Bluetooth and networked printers. Remember, though, that it's really intended for use with native Pocket PC applications (Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, etc.), so don't expect it to work with your other applications. Still, it's a nice tool to have. It is still FREE and available for download <a href="http://www.hp.com/go/pocketpcprint">from the HP site</a>.

It does. It is not HP specific as far as PPCs are concerned. It is a little skewed towards HP printers, though.

I installed it on my Dell X30i yesterday without problem. I'm even printing to my Networked Minolta Printer Copier using the HP Mono Laserjet driver without a problem!

It does show HP, Epson, and Canon as supported print manufacturers. Which of those companies' print drivers they have is another question...

Can you print a document over WIFI? I've got a WIFI connection at my house and a Canon i550 printer (that's shared). Does anyone know if I use a Axim X50v (still waiting to get it), to print over the WIFI to the Canon printer.

I'm know I'm asking for a lot but it'd be really cool if that worked. If not does anyone know of any other utility that might work with the scenario I mentioned?

Is that over WIFI?

I just found another product (costs money though) called: Active Print

Can be found at: http://activeprint.pocketwatchsoftware.com/

This will allow printing over WIFI.[/url]

It'll print just fine over Wifi. Just remember to connect to your printer Ad-hoc before you actually try to print. :D

Well, it also supports connections over infrastructure mode too.

Yes, over WiFi. I have the printers shared on my desktop PC.

The HP driver is FREE, so at the very least you can try to print via Wifi with that driver before even thinking of a pay alternative.

I have to try that out with my computer sometime soon... need a USB wifi adaptor first...

Does it support any extra printers?

I have never been able to print to my HP720C via an XP PC or the Netgear PS101 mini print server.

It seems to have the printers that others will set to in emulation mode. So even if a printer is not listed, check the documentation to see if it can be set as one on the supported list. I've tried it via wifi and IR today in combination with the ClearVue Suite and printed out native Word and Excel files received by email. The only thing it doesn't seem to support is connection by cable, so I'll take a look at the new version of JetCET when it releases later this quarter. I don't need to connect my e805 to a printer by cable very often, but have needed that option on a couple of occasions while on the road. In the meantime, it looks like HP has released a very nice update to their free printing app.

On the built in version that comes with the 4705, only HP printers are listed.

Just a note. According to the HP jet direct tech I spoke with today, the HP mobile printing solution will not work with a colorlaserjet 3500n. The issue is that the printer is "host based" and does not support mobile printing. My interpretation is that "host based" printers use software running on a desktop to facilitate some aspects of printing. Since the PDA does not have this software, the "host based" printer cannot function properly is it is set up as a network and not a shared printer.

I have a Lexmark z53. Has anyone been able to get this to work with any Lexmark printers?

I use a canon i80 over bt and it communicates , but prints evrything tiny. I tried all the drivers to see if any of them would work but nope.

all my other network printers work great hp's.

PrintPocketCE has better support for my canon i80.

what i like about the hp printer software solution is that you can save multiple printers, printpocketce allows only 1 saved printer.

Pocket Print Ce also has better control of the output, fonts size etc ...
