<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.gadgetstorm.com/product-1073-USB_Solar_Charger.html' target='_blank'>http://www.gadgetstorm.com/product-...ar_Charger.html</a><br /><br /></div><i>"[The] SolarEFX Charger incorporates some of the highest efficiency Polycrystalline Photovoltaic Cells on the market today, converting light directly into clean, safe and sustainable electricity. This 'free' electricity is stored in batteries within the SolarEFX for delivery via the USB port to external portable electronic devices, both day and night. Use it to recharge your Mobile Phone, power your CD or Mini disc Player on the beach, or give almost endless game-play on your Gameboy etc. Once the internal batteries are charged the panel can be used day or night to charge and run handheld devices like..Mobile Phones, PDA's, CD and MiniDisk players, MP3 Players, GPS, GameBoy, etc. Output is 200 milliamps at 6 volts. Output from USB socket is 5 volts at 500 mA. 4 off 1.2v rechargeable batteries good for 1000 recharges. The batteries are recharging all the time the panel is under light."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/logsdon_20041102_usbsolar.jpg" /><br /><br />Interesting twist - other solar chargers I've seen do not include an internal rechargable battery. Could be useful for those times when you're out geocaching or hunting mosquitos in the Outback. Or I suppose you could use it during a normal work day when your battery runs low, but where's the fun in that? What do you think?

Hmm...don't think I would use this. If I were walking around using my PDA that much, I'd prolly buy one of those solar-powered Scott eVests. I mean, where would one put the solar cell in this charger?

If I were walking around using my PDA that much,...

I think the great advantage of the built-in battery is that you wouldn't have to walk around with it. Set it in a window and leave it while you and your PDA go about your business, then use it to charge your device when it's convenient. Usually you need your PDA when the sun's shining, and want to charge it at night or at your desk, away from bright sunlight.

I somehow forgot that you could "charge" the solar cell/battery and then use that power later when you didn't have sunlight. That would make this much more useful. :)

Haleluyah I have been waiting for this moment for a lifetime.

I want, show me who to pay. Can you just use it without having to charge, and instead of using the battery it would use the USB?
