i remember there is this way to change the default keyboard upon a soft-reset - could anyone lead me to it?

also, i remember a way to remove "unused" keyboards from the SIPs...

thanks a lot...

You will need to a registry editor for this: a good recommendation is PHM Registry Editor. (http://www.phm.lu/products/pocketpc/RegEdit/) Remember that manipulating the registry is always a risk, so if you're not 100% sure what you're doing, don't force your way into it. ;)

Open up the registry and look for a key called:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\

There should be an entry called "DefaultIm". To edit this value, all you need to do is tap on it. From there, change it to your preferred input method. The keys for this are listed below

Keyboard: {42429667-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}
Character Recognizer: {42429690-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}
Block Recognizer: {42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}

Alternatively, if you don't feel comfortable doing this on your own, you can use Tweaks2K2 .NET. (http://www.pc-counselor.com/downloads.htm)

actually, i was trying to get rid of most of the japanese keyboards so i could just concentrate on having ScrapPanel and Fitaly

anyway, based on your post, i did some more search in the internet, and found a way to find the ClassID for a SIP, and how to disable them [too]

the link is here: http://www.phm.lu/PocketPC/RegTweaks/Tweak.asp?ref=13

btw, how come you know a LOT about PPCs? whenever i raise a question, you are the one that answers... anyway, thanks!!!

Yup...I did a search and there's also another site with a list of tweaks (these are also implemented in Tweaks2K2 .NET) which you can find here. (http://www.pc-counselor.com/How_to/)

Haha! :lol: I've always been exposed to technology since I was little. I guess I've just grown to love it. ;)
