sorry for those who are not interested!

I am tring to write a server-client java application which can be deployed on my Ipaq 4150 (client), however I got puzzles about the use of JVM on pocketpc.

1. I have downloaded J2MEWTK and installed it, but this is the run time environment for pc, which means I still need another run time environment on pocketpc, right?

2. For Jeode, PersonalJava, are they both JVM for pocketpc or as same as JWMEWTK?

3. Is there any J2ME RunTime Environment for 4150?

Can someone help me to figure out those, thanks in advance :D [/b]

Although I don't have a 4150, I have a 2215 and I installed JVLite2 awhile ago and it seems to work fine for me. The very few times it actually gets used :P

Oh yeah, JVLite2 comes with NetFront.

If memory serves me correctly, Jeode hasn't been updated to the WM2003 OS so I'm not 100% sure if it will work.

Your best bet would be to lay your hands on the JV-Lite2 package (a part of the NetFront browser) by ACCESS, or IBM have an alternative solution which you can read more about in this thread here. (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32096)

J2ME has included kvm already, therefore, why we could not install kvm on the pocketpc directly? Many thanks for all replies.

if you are willing to limit yourself to some core yet specific Java IO/Network/Util, you might consider Waba, SuperWaba, or EWE.

i've had only light java requirements lately, and haven't tested all of these solutions, so am just passing them on as reference. i did manage to get the SuperWaba Eclipse IDE plugin to work, and also a simliar port for EWE.

good luck ;)

Please check this article on IBM JVM for MIDP 2.0 and Personal Profile on Pocket PC.

Pictures in the article are missing because the free host that I put those images on has been down for several months. I still have the images to upload if anyone can suggest me a good free host.

:D

You may also want to have a look at this link (http://www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/computing/users/fittond/ppcjava.html) which tabulates a number of Java packages for the Pocket PC. Although a word of warning, some of the ones mentioned on this page are *old*.
