OSUKid7: Yep, just goes to Gmail.com for now. We added the button even though Gmail isn't compatible with Pocket IE right now, so that we don't have to change the app if and when Gmail does support Pocket IE. Let's hope that happens soon :)

does that mean, gmail is now available to the masses? and what's the status of the gmail thing, i think this is a nice thing since many pocket pc people most likely have gmail or use the tools that google have.

The e-mail still hasn't arrived. Anyway, using Google it took me less than two minutes to find the download link.

It is pretty handy, but is missing the most important Google feature for a PPC user!

I didn't quite understand what you were asking, but it's basically a service that allows you to find local businesses and services. Perfect for the person who uses a PDA on-the-go.

The above statement orignally implied that the program was missing the local.google.com link somewhere. I was wondering if it was, and where I should use it, if it was missing.

This application integrates all (most?) of Google's services into one clean and crisp user interface. If Two Peaks decides to add this new URL to its program, it will probably come in the form of another button. There's nothing much you can do with the URL now accept to insert it into the address bar of an internet browser and treat it as another webpage.

Can you access it when running PIE or do you have to go into programmes to run it? I expected it to be integrated into PIE.

It's a separate application that you launch in the Programs menu which externally loads PIE when you search for content.

and are they planning to support this program like the support all their other ones? (which they dont)
because they dont respond to emails, they dont answer the phone, they dont respond to all the posts in the forums, actually Mel has responded to SOME posts on their forums as recently as 9th October, so I can only assume that he's deliberately ignoring anything he feels is a little "challenging". That's just plain insulting.

has anybody checked out the two peaks forums lately? there are a great many disgruntled customers there.

ctitanic: seems like something's wrong on your Pocket PC...possibly too many different browsers have messed up your file associations. GoogHelper is just telling your system to launch a Url. Your system is responding by saying it does not know what program to use in order to launch a Url. If GoogHelper cannot launch a Url, most likely other programs won't be able to either. Try clicking a Url in an email or Contact for example, and you should get the same error message. I don't know how you can fix this...check your registry.

found what was the problem. I moved Netfront from SD to iPaq file store and one of the registry key was not updated. Sorry... my mistake.

So Mel, you do still exist then. I'm amazed you have the gall to show your face.

All I can say is DON'T touch any Two Peaks software with a bargepole, unless you are happy to support yourself totally. They are simply the worst I have ever experienced when it comes to support.

If you don't talk to your customers, they will very quickly stop BEING customers. Or are you intending to take a few dollars from every unsuspecting PPC owner, and then move on to the next? Lets hope you run out of mugs who'll fall for that one before too long.

Someone on Aximsite has manage to get a responce from TwoPeaks, and it looks as if maybe they are starting to reply to people once again. The reply is quoted below. If things improve as they seem to be, then I'll have no difficulty in recommending TwoPeaks once again.

I just hope that if they ever run into such difficulties again, they'll have learnt and will let people know that they shouldn't expect normal service levels for a while.

We acknowledge that we had some longer delays than usual in responding to
customer support emails a few weeks ago. This lasted for several weeks due
to some staffing problems and lack of sufficient resources when we landed a
major corporate consulting project. I believe the problem has now been
addressed and we're responding to queries as quickly as possible, usually
within a day or two. Having said that, some queries will always take longer
than usual due to the technical research required to troubleshoot or
understand the problem. Also, some queries simply cannot be addressed to
every customer's satisfaction because they deal with the timing of future
releases or upgrades. Although we try to release upgrades as quickly as
possible, sometimes they fall behind schedule due to different priorities
(other applications, more critical bugs, corporate consulting projects etc).
Therefore it is very hard to predict with accuracy when an upgrade will be
released. Every day we get dozens of emails asking when an upgrade for so
and so application will be available, and if it will support so and so
platform. The simple answer is "Yes we're working on it". Believe me, it is
in OUR best interest to fix as many bugs as possible and support every
available platform (Smartphone, Pocket PC, Symbian etc). I assure you that
we're committed to very high quality standards, but being a small business,
we can only do so much at once. We're trying hard to avoid frustrating
customers, although that inadvertently happens sometimes due to delayed or
lack of communication. For that, I sincerely apologize. I hope this answers
some of your questions. Feel free to share this with folks on your
discussion forum.

Thanks,
-Bill
