I installed Skype version is 1.0.0.14 on my 6315 and when I run it, I get the following message at startup:

"Your device is not supported by the Skype sound engine. Calling functionality will be disabled"

This is really dissapointing. Does anyone know if there's any hope that a future release of Skype will support the 6315 for making calls?

the issue is related to the hardware specs of the 6315. The minimum for voice calls is I guess a 400Mhz CPU which, as you know the 6315 if far from

CPU speed isn't the issue as I can use VoIP via my vonage softphone account all day long. It looks more like Skype doesn't know about the audio system in the 6315.

This would seem to infer that you use your 6315 as a Voip device with Vonage. Is that possible and if so please tell me more.

I don't have a SoftPhone on my Vonage account, so I haven't tried this yet.

http://www.engadget.com/entry/6437880577833191/I was hoping I could do this with the main account but I guess that's just not possible.

I went to the skype site and this is the info on system requirements. Skype still starts up on the 6315 but only for IM:

In order to use Skype for Pocket PC, your handheld must meet the following minimum system requirements:

Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC
400 MHz XScale processor
WiFi-enabled

It has to do more with the type of CPU. The HP uses a TI not an intel.

There is a beta version of skype reported to work!

FYI, Samsung processors don't work, either. :(
