Today I got an e-mail from our account rep at Dell, quoted below...

"We have been updated that the release date (tenative) of Axim X50 in Australian segment is on October 28th 2004."

Well, here's hoping you guys are going to be late as usual  Sorry.

Doesn't look like a big delay this time, unlike other releases.

Think of it this way. Not having the opportunity to be on the cutting edge, prevents you from getting cut. You get the advantage of real user experience, without having to rely on your own will power to hold off buying for a week or two ;)

That's true!

Actually, I'm not really fussed about late release dates. At the end of the day, the product is there for me to sample if I wanted to. Time flies very quickly these days, and it will be October 28th in no time! ;)

I'm sure it's ok, people don't mind waiting for the real thing! Let the others come quickly, Dell take your time and do it right.

Hey, it's my birthday on the 30th... who would like to buy me an X50v as a present! (not all at once, please)

Seriously, based on other Axims, would anyone care to hazard a guess at an Oz dollar price?

No...but...you can always bargain the price down over the phone. ;)

By the time the X50s are released in Australia and ready to ship. Our X50s here in the U.S. will probably still be in production by then.

Hmmm... never tried that with Dell -- always ordered off the 'Net. Maybe that's why they offer specials 'for online ordering only', so I can't use the "Aw, c'mon, it's my birthday, that's gotta be worth 20% off list" approach.

Funnily enough, if you quote the E-value code to the salesperson, you can still get the online offers.

Thanks for the tip, DJ... I'll give it a try later this year. Like, some time after 28th Oct!
