I recently accquired a IPAQ 3630 and would like to be able to access websites such as EBAY while I am on the road. What is the best method of doing this and what accesories will I need. WIFI?, Modem? etc etc.

Also would like to upgrade the OS to Pocket PC 2002 but HP doesnt seem to offer it. I understand that it has to come from the hardware manufacturer as the OS's are hardware specific. I have read people on this forum running Pocket PC 2002 on a 3600 series, How do they do it and where could I find it?

Thanks DA

For internet: If you are near a wifi hotspot ( http://wifinder.com ) then go with a wifi card. Purchase a Compact flash expansion sleve (i can sell you one for $15, just email me [email protected] if you want it) and a wifi card will be needed as well. A wifi card is about $60-100, but many internet services over wifi are free or cheap. (see http://mobileplanet.com for wifi cards)

If you find that you are not near a hotspot often, go with a modem. You can pick up a 56k or eithernet CF modem @ http://mobileplanet.com for about $50-170.

You can even go with a CDMA, IDEN or GSM modem that runs internet off of a cellphone network. The card will cost $170-250, plus monthly service fee (which can be expensive). You will recieve speeds from 56k-140k and beyond.

As for PPC2002, search ebay for a Pocket Pc 2002 upgrade disk for your unit. The disk will install the new os to your ipaq, while it is connected to your pc. Unfortunatly, it will erase all of your data on your ipaq, so you will need to back your information up.

Thanks Arnage, I did look on Ebay and two CD's have been sold in the past few months, but none are for sale right now. I will keep my eyes open, I am just relieved to see that there is actually a CD from Compaq that is an upgrade for the 3600 series to Pocket PC 2002 Windows.

Also found a good website with info on wireless internet
