Firewalled behind wifi

Hi guys. My school has a campus-wide wifi network, but unfortunatly it is restrictivly firewalled. This means that I cannot use Inbox to use IMAP/SMTP to access my mail, which is quite annoying. Another thing that would be nice to access is MSNIM.

One possiblity is to tunnel to my computer at home using some sort of SSH, but I am not sure how to do this.

Any suggestions?

Such tunnelling would only work if outgoing port 22 was enabled at your school -- have you checked that facility from your desktop first?
