I think the HP printer software (somewhere on HP's site) works over the network. I know I was able to print to a windows shared printer via wi-fi, and I think there are other protocols (eg TCP/IP) that are supported. Assuming there's a compatible driver included withe the HP software, you should be good to go.

I think the product is called HP Mobile Printing. It's free.

Cheers!

hm i know that sometimes a "compatible" driver doesn't have to be the exact model (and the 6800 isn't in the HP mobile printing package).... anyone know how i can find out which one to try that IS there that might work?

What printer model do you have?

HP 6800. it's not in the driver list that comes with HP mobile software but i'd love to get it working - that printer is sweet!

I can't speak with any certainty to this, but I looked around, and the Linux driver for that printer appears to be the same as the 55xx/5600/5800 series printers. Don't know if that's because more than one type of communication protocol exists in the driver or if the 6800 is the same/similar to those printers. I don't know if choosing that driver in the HP Mobile printing configuration would yield good results or not. Might be worth a try, though. If you start getting garbage printing out, then guess not (and turn the printer off before you waste paper/ink). Might try the 6100 series as well. Regardless, I doubt you'll get all the features of printing from the desktop, but it might be good enough to print docs, etc.

Found the Linux info here:

http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/productssupported.php

Proceed at your own risk, standard backup procedures apply, yada yada yada...Good luck.

It’s not a big deal. Really I’m sure you can do it on your own. Just get the soft from HP Mobile Printing http://www.hp.com/go/pocketpcprint. Anyway if you have problems setting it up you can try my Tutorial / Pictorial as another point of reference
