I bought a 3870 a couple of years ago and hadn't used it too much. I just returned from a deployment from the Middle East and my wife is dying to take over the unit and use it on a daily basis. I've just ordered the Window OS upgrade but need some advice on other "musts" that I'm probably unaware of. What's the best way to get WiFi capability? Any other suggestions on programs/add ons or sites I should be looking at. I really appreciate any help with getting me up to speed. Aj

Ah, so there is someone else who uses a 3870! :D WiFi's not too easy on this device. You'll have to either get a CF Card expansion pack or a PC Card expansion pack. I went for the PC Card since I found a deal on a WiFi PC Card a year and a half ago. I'd probably recommend going with CF now though. So get the expansion pack, and a WiFi card, and you should be set.

Programs...that's mainly up to you. I'd recommend Spb Pocket Plus 2.0. Check out some freeware at PocketPCFreewares (http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php). You may want to pick up a network diag tool. Be sure to get Flash and Acrobat Reader in case you ever run into that while surfing.

Is HP/Compaq the only place to buy the CF expansion pack? How about the Wifi card? Thanks again for the info. Aj

There are a lot of manufacturers that make CF WiFi cards. Linksys, DLink, Socket, just to name a few. I haven't used a CF WiFi card, so you may want to ask what the best brands are.
