Apparently, the confidentiality in the hx4700's FCC filing drops that same day, so there's a good likelihood it'll ship then. I wonder if they'll be the first of all "resellers" to ship -- too bad HP charges tax for many of the states they do business in.

Update: Now it says 9/21. Uh-oh... 8O

Yeah, but the standard and extended batteries are still listed as "Out of Stock". Even if my pre-ordered 4700 show up on the 20th it won't become my primary device until I have two batteries for it, even if that means buying another 4700.

My days are just too long for one battery and I can't always get near a charger. I can remember to charge my batteries when I get my few hours of sleep, but for the rest of my 18 hour day I need my little buddy to go where I go and do whatever I need it to do.

Five days? No way I could be so lucky. This'd be a perfect pre-anniversary gift to myself. I'll just get my fiance some diamonds so she won't notice when her Hyperspace Delivery Boy gaming device gets more powerful.... :ladysman:

I think you are a prime candidate for the Scott eVest SOLAR when it comes out

Why it's changed!! It did say 9/20 when I ordered mine. My order confirmation says estimated ship date of 9/20 and estimated delivery of 9/21 ($10 for fed ex priority overnight is not a bad deal).

I guess people are snapping them up pretty fast if the estimated ship date has moved already!

Yeah, it DID say 9/20.. weird. Well, I'm ordering tomorrow morning with my educational discount and definitely getting that $10 overnight shipping. Sometimes I love being a college student... (sometimes). Hmm, it should come out to around $641 after tax and shipping. That sucks.

Funny HP, messing with us all!

and upon EDIT...ooops...the "pre placing it in your cart" says estimated ship date of 9/20, but then when you actually place it in your cart it does say 9/21

I can't be bothered calculating the actual delivery date if it goes up by one day every 15 minutes.

EDIT: Actually I think it goes to infinity, which would suit HP.

Why do some pictures show this as what appears to be a much darker grey than in some other pictures on the net. Are they all the same or is there some difference. Preproduction / post production???

I posted an order, but I also have a pre-order in at ecost. Does anyone know if ecost will ship close to the same time? I don't want to wait very long, but to save the $50 in tax would be definitely great!

Well, it's good to see the new VGA units start to ship. I wonder if we are going to get some more X50 leaks before the 4705 is generally availible........

No, it does not have Nevo. :(

If you want Nevo, you'll want the Non-VGA 3715. Incidentally, its considerably cheaper too.

What I heard from my HP Corporate Sales person... the official release date for the business part number (FA282A) is October 15th. The consumer part number (FA304A) is a separate animal from HP's perspective.

The specifications (http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11982_na/11982_na.HTML) are pretty much the same, except there are a few extra software programs installed in ROM. The big one I noticed:
"Clearvue Suite (PowerPoint and PDF)"

For me PDF viewing is a must. Clearvue PDF is great, but a pig on storage space. It'd be really nice to have that in ROM.

So while the "official" release date may be October 15th, HP Small Biz may well still be shipping these next week. They don't usually mess around with their dates too much, nor does HP like to have people place orders for items that are a month away from being available. In fact, you can't even order accessories for items that are out of stock, even items that have already been released, they make you come back and check later or they will send you an email when they are in stock. They don't like playing the "backorder" game too much. So my guess is that now that HP Small biz has a specific "estimated shipping date" of 9/20 or 9/21, it's got to be pretty solid.

Additionally, for all of you looking for the extended 3600 mAh battery and the 5 row Bluetooh keyboard, you can now place those in your cart and order them with the hx4700 at the Small Biz site. Estimated shipping date is the same as the iPaq itself and I confirmed with my sales rep that those items in particular were scheduled to arrive and ship next week. At this point you can ONLY order them with a new iPaq, but my guess is that once they get in next week you can order them on their own.

Here is a link that will show you at the bottom those 2 options in addition to all current accessories for the hx4700 series

OCTOBER 2???!!!

Delayed for a bit longer it seems. I was about to go give them my money, but I'll wait a bit longer before doing that.

The longer you wait to order the longer you'll wait to get it. The date keeps getting pushed back on their site because of back orders. They're set to get a "confirmed shipment" of about 250 on the 24th. After that they have to wait for more to get in to fill the other orders.
