I purchased and X30 today as a gift and asked my Dell rep when the X50 was coming out. She told me she did not have anything official, but her best quess would be late October.
So, there you go. Take it for what it's worth. It's not really anything we did not suspect alreday, but it's the first time our questamation has been confirmed by a Dell representatives questamation.
LOL!!
I think we're all nuts!! :)

Thanks for the info! You might submit this as news/rumor - that date is coming up pretty quickly!

Anyone want to buy an X5?

I wouldn't put too much stock in a Rep. More then likely any dates they snagged were from a person who heard a person say....which in reality prob got the date off of pocketpcthoughts to begin with. :razzing:

We'll see. All I know is my birthday is the 27th and I've got money to burn on a new Pocket PC.

The word around is that Dell asked the FCC to extend their confidentiality to 8 Nov. Now it might be out earlier, because they likely overestimated, rather than risk having to ask for another extension...but.

Which would...er....suck. My Jornada 568 is feeling slower as each day passes. :bawl: Dude! I want to get a Dell VGA Pocket PC!

Good for Dell - they're picking up the ball HP dropped where 128MB is concerned. Hopefully Dell will also offer expansion capability and biometric security in a future model.

The lack of an upgrade won't bother me as long as upgradability is not pushed as one of the key features.

Not to mention that the price should hopefully be less (if not much less) for the new X50 if dell stays in their current trend. That's always a strong selling point for me and a lot of other PDA users (and even non users). I can't wait to see the press release in October!

The X50 will not exceed the $400 mark that's for sure! Dell can't go higher than that. Key word "Dell Direct Sales". HP's iPAQ 6300 is only $499 and the iPAQ 4700 is only $499 at Best Buy. Yeah, they'll start at $649... they always do but always goes down to $499.

Less then $650 but I'm betting its going to be above $400. Guys keep in mind that up til now there hasn't been any spec technology in Dell's PDA lineup that has been out of the ordinary. A VGA screen and the possible rumored Intel accelerator that accompanies that screen is going to cost Dell a pretty penny. Unless they are willing to eat the cost of the screen its going to possibly be pretty comparably priced to other VGA systems. I honestly will be amazed if they price it under $500.

The deciding factor on price may be the size of the screen. Is it 3.5, 3.8 or 4.0 inches. The larger the screen the more expensive the screen.
