Currently own a 2215 and am itching to get the 6315 for the integrated phone and PPC features but i am concerned over the processor and if it can handle a gps/auto navigation program as well as my 2215.

Has anyone tried running gps on the 6315, if so how well does it work or not work(slower than normal)..
Thnx :D

I use a Royaltek Bluetooth GPS with my 6315 and Mapopplis. It works okay as for speed of connection but the volume is still weak. I use a bluethooth headset that helps. For an unknown reason the app will freeze then it will start again. I am troubleshooting to where the problem is.

Is the 6315 your first pda used with the gps or did originally own a normal pda?

I ask this because i just wanted to know if u noticed a decrease in performance with the gps mapping software and the 6315 because of it's smaller processor.

Im coming from a 2215 ipaq and hope i don't notice the difference when using my gps.

Thnx again for the info

I use my Pharos Bluetooth receiver with a number of Pocket PCs and I haven't noticed any decrease in performance with the 6315. I do wish it would work better with my Jabber Bluetooth headset, and the volume is lower than I would like.

:( So i guess the volume could be improved upon, but decreased performance isn't that noticeable when using gps, ..ok, i think i can live with that... im not that heavy of a program user but rely on the gps..
for in car use i have an arkon car mount for my 2215, it has it's own adjustable volume so hopefully it'll take care of that when i use it strictly in the car

TomTom Navigator 3 (Europe) runs fine on the iPaq 6315. Configuring the TomTom BT GPS receiver however, proved a bit more difficult. The iPaq saw the receiver alright, but the TomTom GPS software couldn't connect to it.

A registry search showed that it was in fact (most likely) a bug in the COM installation routine:

This was the registry key after installation:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial7]
"Dll"="---BTCEIF.DLL"
"Prefix"="COM"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Index"=dword:00000007
"FriendlyName"="Bluetooth Serial Port COM7:"
"DeviceArrayIndex"=dword:00000007

COM7: was defined indeed, but remained invisible to the GPS driver. Changing "Dll"="---BTCEIF.DLL" into "Dll"="BtCeIf.dll" was the solution. COM7: became available and TT3 now works as a breeze.

I've had great success with my 6315 and the BT-308 with the Arkon carmount. I use PocketMap Navigator 2 and haven't had many problems. The Arkon has a built-in speaker/amplifier.
