I'm looking for different ways to get localized TV listings, movie showtimes and other entertainment schedules (concerts etc.) onto my PPC for offline viewing. Free is good!

I can get my local Christian concert listings using Mobile Favorites and iTickets.com (link (http://www.itickets.com/handheld/)). That's pretty much all the concerts I care about.

I used to get movie showtimes the same way from Hollywood.com but the service is sporatic and they seem to have blocked all but the AvantGo client. I'd rather not use Avantgo (link (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30650&highlight=avantgo)). Is there any other mobile site or application I can use for this?

Finally, I've never been able to get TV listings to work on my computer. If anyone has a method that works please let me know.

I can't answer your tv question but a few things about movies... for one you can use hollywood.com without AvantGo... i always access it live from a gprs connection... the url includes AvantGo but it isn't actually going through avantgo...
Also for movies try the oa.yahoo.com one and the infospace one... can't remember the url

I can use the Hollywood.com mobile page on a live connection but when I try to sychronize it I get an error. Some pages can't be dowloaded becuase of an exclusion in the robots.txt file. I wish I knew of a way around it. I'll try those others you mentioned.

I don't know any free methods. I use PTVL from thumbsupsoft for TV listings, and Vindigo for local movies, restaurants, etc.

I use PTVL...
I've been using PTVL, too, and have had it on my Pocket PC for about three years now. It's becoming a bit more difficult for developers to create listings, though, because a lot of the networks are no longer making their data freely available. PTVL is worth a look.

It's a little different from most PPC applications. You have to first install and run the desktop app to grab the data, and then push the data to your PPC using Activesync.

BTW, PTVL is a free program now...

I also use PTVL. The desktop version is handy too, just remember to use the desktop skin and the arrows on the keyboard instead of on the program.
