This sweet little device has a 520MHz XScale, WiFi and 1xEV-DO as well as a killer form factor.

There's an English translation of the article here (although it doesn't quite explain what the iPAQ "guy" is in the above picture. ;)) Unfortunately, Marc from iPAQabilities wrote in last week letting us know that this is going to be a Korean-only release. :| Why, HP? Verizon's about to release a 1xEV-DO network in North America, so couldn't it work here?

Nice, but I think a keyboard leverages the PPC OS a lot better than a keypad.

Are the korean phone network incompatible with the US networks? If not, who not just bring it over and ask Verizon et al to activate it?

The technology is the same, but I'm not sure the provisioning, etc. is, and there might be quirks using their phones. Plus, the phone's going to be in Korean... ;)

I'm jealous - this has cosiderably more to offer than the 6300 IMO. I think this is the total package for a PPC Phone!

Based on the last picture, I wouldn't necessarily say it's got a "killer form factor".

If all that stuff can be squeezed into a 4100 series case or even better an Audiovox 4100 that would be a killer form factor.

Funny, the cartoon character next to the woman is a 1900/4100 series device! :)

It's too early to say for sure that the iPAQ rw6100 won't be released in the U.S. The Korean newspaper JoongAng Daily (http://joongangdaily.joins.com/200408/25/200408252223129309900090609061.html) reports that if this model is successful in South Korea, it will be distributed in other countries.

As Janak points out, I suspect we may see it here after CDMA 2000 1x EvDO wireless networks are available in the U.S.

I suspect if more people in the west could read the numerous asian languages, we would know a lot more of whats going on in the tech world. I've come across so many web pages with a product name embedded in paragraphs of taiwanese etc, with babelfish being completely unreadable.

I agree thast this is more substantial than the 6100. i really do hope they consider brining this to the US market. :(

Don't know how much this will cost if it comes to the States, but I believe it shows how much 6300 could have been better.
Still, I'm not going to get one since it's lacking in Bluetooth. :(

What is it with cell phones in the States. I swear we are a like a technological backwater when it comes to cell phones. That being said, I agree with ignar...no bluetooth...no sale.

Unless...can an internet connection on the PDA be shared via WiFi to a laptop?

lol, the engrish translator.

"From more convenient transgression web the PDA of existing than there is a possibility of enjoying Ping."

it looks pretty cool, but i dont think its useful in the US ATM. once we get the networks set up, all manufacturers will be pouring these into hte US. it really isnt worth the price right now, because it wont be as functional.

more engrish

"The iPAQ product army seclusion articles of association Riga the person who is strenuous ten is the efficient product in the person whose Ji promise is many"

and, it REALLY IS STARCRAFT. 8O

1. Needs a keyboard, not keypad. Numbers should be via the screen, letters on a keyboard.
2. Bluetooth headset. No one wants something the size of an Ipaq up by their face.
3. HP, you're based in Palo Alto...can you please introduce product in the US?

I like the idea of the keypad, I'd actually use it, and the blue lights are so cool.

The Asian market has so many good looking phones and Pocket PCs. Its not fair. lol

I wouldn't be so quick to blame HP on this one. When it comes to CDMA phones, the carriers (i.e., Verizon and Sprint) completely control the distribution. Because of that, they tend to play hardball with the phone vendors. This was why Sony-Ericsson dropped out of the CDMA market here. The carriers are just too hard to work with. And, of course, that means that the consumers suffer.

Haha. I think a release to the worldwide market would be a good move, rather than just the US market. I know of many people in all different countries who would kill to get their hands on this device.

holy crap is that starcraft!!!!!

I believe so! :robot: Now where can we get that?!?

First Jeon Ji Hyun and now this!!! Koreans are really lucky....

Looks like it is being run in PocketIE maybe an on-line gaming website for SC???

Hopefully LG makes a GSM version of this! I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be using a keypad even on a PhoneEd Device (I'd probably be dialing via Contacts) but a keypad built-in is much more welcome than a HUGE 8O detachable thumboard. A built-in sliding thumboard would be fantastic though (ala XDA3)!

I live in Korea and can tell you that mobile telephones in Korea will not work in the USA. Some can be modified however but suspect the cost would make it not worth the effort.
