I got this thing in a box load of stuff at an estate auction. I have no idea what it is and I was just going to throw it away.

But my next door neighbor told me it was a Camaro oil pan and was worth $800.

I can't find any info about it anywhere. It has the following numbers printed inside:

GM5
GM
3856611

Does anyone know what in the world this thing is? If it really is worth that much, I want to sell it, but I don't even know what to call it because I can't find any other Camaro parts that look anything like it.

Also, do any of you know any good car forums where I could ask this question?

Thanks! (and I'm sure glad we have an off-topic forum, because this is about as off-topic as you can get! :D )

Boy is that random! I'm no mechanic, but that thing looks like a paperweight. 8)

A Palm in 2025.

Overgrown valve cover? Oil pan? Probably not. If it didn't have what looks to be a bearing type thingy on one side of it to spin, I'd bet on the first two. Maybe it came off of a tractor. But if it did, I couldn't tell you what it is!

Why not just ask your next door neighbor? If he knows what to call it and how much it is worth, he probably knows who would buy it...

Yeah, I will. He's gone for a few days and I just thought I'd throw the question out to this community just in case any of you guys knew. 8)

I know, I know. But, hey...that's why we have an off topic forum, right?

It looks like it's either the cover off of a diff or the cover from the back of a tranny...

But, I'm just guessing!

I'd bet you could even pass it off as art, and really make some money ;)

Label it as the tin man's arse and put it on ebay.

Label it as the tin man's arse and put it on ebay.

:rotfl:

And put a higher price, like $2000-3000, so people start thinking that this is an antique arse :p
