One of the latest attempts at this comes from Germany, where a company called Rosner GmbH &amp; Co. has come up with a jacket with an MP3 player stitched right into the lining.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/adrian/mp3blue.jpg" /><br /><br /><i>"A 128-megabyte MP3 player is controlled through cloth buttons on the left sleeve. Headphones are built into the collar. The jacket also has a hands-free cell phone microphone tucked into the collar, which works with phones on the Bluetooth short-range wireless standard. A tiny electronic module containing the music player and the battery, which the company says is good for up to eight hours per charge, can be slipped out so the jacket can be washed."</i><br /><br />This looks like a neat idea, especially the control buttons on the sleeve. But it also seems a bit pricey and a bit <a href="http://www.scottevest.com/">familiar</a>. ;)<br /><br />You know me, though; it'll take a lot to win me over from my beloved SCOTTeVESTs. No matter what your preference is, though, the arrival of more kinds of technology-friendly apparel makes one point perfectly clear: <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2342&highlight=scottevest+geek">Wearing these does NOT make me a geek</a>!

Nope, that's no SCOTTeVEST. And nothing I would wear, if the control "pad" isn't made less hard-looking... :?

Caption Time! :)

Old news, underpants that play tunes have been around since eighties. :)

How do you figure that?

if you replace her head with this:

shove her in the jungle, and make her laugh slow and maniacal. . .and then have her blow up, then this photo becomes oddly familiar. . .

Because you're only considered a geek until your way of doing things becomes mainstream. I'm a trendsetter, baby!

This reminds me of Burton's iPod ski jacket that was released a year or so ago. The iPod was housed in a internal breast pocket, and there were buttons on your sleeve to control. The thing looked really cool, but it was as expensive as an iPod, $349.99

That's EXACTLY what I thought! Forget MP3s, I want the eMissile jacket!

Seriously, I think gadgets stitched into clothing has a strong future...just not this.

Personally, I believe that this platform is way over-rated. It requires that you use a specific device with your jacket. I believe that people prefer the flexibility to use whatever device they want to with their clothing.

Man... how could you miss the link to one of the documentaries that famous politician appears in. The woman on the picture you provided is obviously going to explode a few figures after she has pressed that button. Everbody who watched The Predator can testify on that.

Was going to say the same thing. They also have an awesome PowerBook Backpack that has controls on the straps and a small compartment to put your ipod in.

Now that's funny! Sounds just like a PC user to me! :D Now when will my wife let me by a 3.0 System? :D

Actually, that sounds like something I'd expect a competitor to say.

Maybe....but I still think that Scott has em beat. I personally don't care for the buttons in the sleeve. It gives you more thigns to be careful about when trying to clean the jacket.

That would be the Amp (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2003/jan/07burtonipod.html). But it appears to no longer be available on the Burton site. Or the Apple site, afaict.

Sorry I missed the "obvious" resemblance to the Predator!

You can pretty much guess what my opinion is, but I agree with Scott. It's handy to have some kind of remote buttons to control your device(s), but I like being able to choose which devices I put in my technology-enabled clothing.

For instance, I just LOVE my Dell Digital Jukebox, and I've got the little add-on control pad. I put the jukebox in one of my SCOTTeVEST's lower pockets and thread the control pad cord through the tunnels and bring it out right about chest level. Works great for me!
