The 1715 is in stock, but the other two show out of stock with "Ships on August 26" for the shipping time frame. It sounds like another month before these two are available. HP sure it taking it's sweet time in getting their new PDA's out the door.

I'm thinking that Dell may release a 2nd WMSE device by the time HP actually gets around to releaseing their first. The rz1715 doesn't count since it's just an overpriced kiddy toy.

Anyone else suprised to see the 6300 coming in cheaper than the 4700? It makes some sense but kind of wierd considering the amount of stuff crammed in the 6300.... I wish I could see some bencmarks on the TI chip as well. Oh and one more thing anyone else notice the specs sheet on HPShopping lists the processor as 168 Mhz not 200 mhz as in all the reviews popping up... [/list]

Ordered mine this morning on ecost.com. They had a special price of $599 on a "checkout" special. Have to be patient, have to be patient (chanting)...

Did ecost charge your card on ordering?

Five-way navigation button, four application launch buttons

They say button...not touchpad. I wonder if the touchpad is tactile a la the iPod?

I am also surprised to see the 6300 cheaper.

Not really. 4700 has VGA screen, more memory, faster processor, more professional casing, CF slot, BT1.2. On the other hand the 6300 has a VGA camera and the GSM radio.
As for processor speed: OMAP 1510 has a DSP processor which runs at 200MHz while the core ARM chip runs at 168MHz. Im' a little bit sad, that HP went with such an old chip, TI had since several new generations from this OMAP family. But I can see the reason, as this device comes clearly from a WANDA refenece design (which was based on OMAP1510)
Well. At least the battery life is great :)

I was so excited for the new HPs.. Especially the ones with the integrated camera. But I have to be honest. I dont see that much to be excited about. I think HP really dropped the ball on this one. Their low end model is 285 bucks. My X30 high was purchased for 304 shipped with 1 year replacement included and has a faster processor. I just dont see how HP will be able to compete. I also think that having to wait till end of August is a bit excessive. WEll, I'm disappointed as I was hopeing to get my hands on one of these new HPs but guess I'll keep my x30 High as it has everything I want in a PDA w/ the exception of the integrated camera.

Hah, it's really funny to see the 1945 and the 1715 side by side on the HPshopping site. For *exactly* the same price, you can get 1945 which is clearly better in every aspect (except it does not have the WM2003SE)
I'm really wondering who will buy the 1715 ???? :?
Update: Hahah, just checked. the 1715 comes with 90day warranty vs 1945 with 1year ???

Just checked it out and yes it is on the card per my on-line account website. Guess they'll get the interest and booked revenue until it comes out. Don't think that adds up to much but depends on what they've bought it for from HP. I haven't seen the listing of the device on Ingram-Micro and TechData distribution sites yet but in many cases, eCost usually comes really, really cost to that wholesale cost. I'll watch out for it and let you know.

I am really leaning towards the 6300 at this point couldn't tell you why other than it seems pretty sweet to have everything rolled into one place....

If my memory serves me correctly... it was last or 2nd to last compared to about 6 or 7 other pocket pcs, and it was definitely slower than the I-Mate/XDA2.

And the UK site doesn't even mention that they exist still.
I think for the huge difference in price between the X30 and the 4700 though the CF slot and the VGA screen will just have to be forgotten about; not sure if its worth the price hike.

I agree.. I personally cann't see the justification. the x30 IMHO is a solid uinit, great wi-fi range, no creacks and overall feels solid. There is just not enough IMHO to seperate the 2 by nearly double the cost.

Jason, or anyone who might know:

I heard a long time ago that Rogers was going to carry it, but I haven't heard anything recently.

Anyone notice the T-Mobile logo on the 6300? Or has that long since been officially confirmed (and I missed the boat)?

Does anybody know if they are going to offer the 6315 in a CDMA format? I tried asking the HPShopping.com sales guy and HP Tech Support guy and both individuals had a hard time spelling CDMA let alone knowing what it was.

I was going to order a 4705 until I saw the specs - what a disappointment. For $650 you get less than 64MB of usable RAM? And for a device of that size with a 4 inch screen the standard battery is only 1800 mAh? How long will that last with WiFi on? Not long, I'll bet...

The 4700 is also a 4" screen, in addition to the VGA. Considerably heavier, but also a larger battery (probably where the weight comes in).

Both the X3(0) and the 4700 have large Flash RAM data stores. I know on my x3 the data store is very slow; painful sometime to store My Documents on it. Is the x30 or the 4700 better in that regard. Do they use faster Flash RAM (than the older x3's)?

I'm confused (And I stay that way a lot) but I thought I had read that the new 1715 came with Microsoft® Windows® Mobile™ 2003 Second Edition software. However , according to ALL the specs I've seen on the HP site only the 4700 series seems to come with the latest and greatest. Specs say the 1715 comes with Microsoft® Windows® Mobile™ 2003 for Pocket PC (Professional Edition), So exactly WHy would someone buy the 1715 ??????

rz1715= an old batch of 3600 mainboards shoehorned in a TI calculator case. it should have a pricetag where you can throw it away when it's broken. Over here in the Netherlands it will cost appr. 350 USD...shame...shame...shame.

I think I'll wait some months...this device WILL come for free in a box of Kellogg's corn flakes...someday.

I have all my programs installed into the Filestoer on my x30 High and they run great w/ the exception of BugMe.

1800mAh is fairly large compared to previous generations of the iPaq or other from other manufacturers. I think with the wireless options on, I think it'll fare better than people would expect. There's always the possiblity of an extended battery.

You also have to think that 64MB RAM is for running programs and the OS. There's plenty of space for storage in ROM. I would still like to see how HP implemented this in a future review.

Do you have your documents in the Filestore too? Or do you keep those in main RAM. On x3 (the original), Apps runs fine from Filestore (Flash RAM), but I definitely notice delays when saving documents to there. One can store the documents in Main RAM, but then one looses the power protection of the Flash RAM.

Of course, if documents in Filestore, then the default Active Sync does not sync them, but that it a general Active Sync complaint, I guess. Doesn't seem like that's affected with the new HP.

I bet by changing that verbiage and HP announcing it, they can now probably charge for it. Granted you can always cancel the order and have them credit back the charge no worse for wear except a couple bucks in interest. In my case, I gotta feed my habit so I'm staying put unless I can get it wholesale for less!
