I'll bet kati has her eye on this to keep the THREAD from being derailed. and not from "the oversleep".

I see more applications for this as a prank device, myself.

Off-topic threads, and particularly goofy ones, get a little more leeway moderation-wise. ;)

... not sure why *I'm* being picked on... :P

Will you marry me?

(BTW, I mentioned you based on the other thread you were trying to "steer back" onto the road  )

;) Sorry, Jack gets first dibs if I ever become available.

Now, ahem, let us once again discuss crazy alarm clocks. ;)

 so how many times have you been popped the question?

Thread split from here: http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30384&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

And as for proposals, only one that I accepted. ;)

Heh. I haven't had any other *serious* offers. And I'm not looking for a "trade-in".

As for joke offers, probably 4-5. But three of those from Jack. ;)

Now, now, kids, Jack already used up this joke. ;) I've met Kati's husband, and perhaps to your chagrin, he's real. And very smart. And a very impressive fellow overall. You'd be hard-pressed to beat him. So shush, else you'll get married to the HOFS!

My wife probably wouldn't like it much either. ;)

Never underestimate the power of the joke proposal. I married my wife almost 6 years after the first words I spoke to her. "Would you like to get married... if you're not doing anything else this weekend?"

Cheesy to the nth degree... but it worked!

Perhaps, but Kati being married and all... :P

Ha! Not only does Kati get marriage proposals, she gets them primarily from married men!

The Hall of Flame and Shame (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=40) - where threads go to die. ;)

Ummm, here (http://smiley.onegreatguy.net)?

Some nice smilies there (as well as some Bad ones). We should acquire a few more decent ones for our collection.

Just did an advanced search (http://images.google.com/advanced_image_search?hl=en) on images.google.com and put in marriage, file type GIF, small images. Found it in a few pages.

BTW, I have no idea what is up with that banner! 8O

Great news, everyone...

There may be a new moderator available in the near future (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=92)!

No, I love smilies. :ppclove:

 Seriously - they really help to communicate that extra bit of info. I often post humorously or ironically. Without an emoticon of some kind it can come across wrongly.

Just curious, what is the reason behind that ? I always thought that it is always good to have more options ...

There is such a thing as overkill. The last thing you want to do is to have smilies "take over" posts. The whole point of a board is to communicate ideas, ultimately speaking. Smilies should assist in that, not get in the way. Additionally, by adding too many smilies, you dilute each smiley's value -- it's hard enough to pick "one" now, imagine twice as many.

Anyway... how often are we going to use a wedding smiley in casual conversation? If you're going to have a "Congrats!" post, a picture of a wedding cake would work just as well.
