Backup too large

Have searched the threads, but cant find an answer. I have heard of this problem before. I told my boss how wonderful it is to have a PDA, well he spent weeks loading stuff into his PDA, and didn’t realize that if you didn’t charge the battery every few days, the memory would be wiped clean. He made a backup however.

The machine is: Toshiba e355, and he used the ROM based backup program. Every time he goes to try and restore the backup file, it gives him an error message saying that the backup file is too large to fit into main memory. Has anybody else had this problem, and how can you fix it?

This has happened to me now and then on my iPAQ 3845. If I soft reset before the backup attempt, I do not get the warning about the backup being too large.

I backup with Sprite Backup.

if the real problem is that your bosses device ran out of free memory, then my advice is to install some programs to a storage card to free up the internal ram.
how much free memory the device has just after a soft reset?
