Oh, have I mentioned?!

Sigh. It won't be available in my zip code. :( But at least that makes my choice between "small and and awesome" to "bigger but with VGA and more power and memory and awesome" easier to make...

How did you find this out? I poked around and could not find out how to find if it will be available in your area or not.

This is looking better all the time. Oh, why must you tempt us so far in advance of release????:bawl:

Interesting that they don't have any pictures of the unit opened for use as a phone? I'm kind of curious to see how the interface looks in that mode.

Also interesting that they don't post any "hard specs" like memory or processor. I wonder if those are still changing, or they just don't feel like mentioning them.

I'm just in a lousy cell phone area coverage-wise in the US. So it's a pretty safe bet. So, for example, there's no T-Mobile. AT&T is iffy I think. Sprint has coverage. I have Virgin Mobile, but the phone doesn't work at the local airport (...cause you'd NEVER need to use the phone THERE...).

I still stick to my unwelcomed opinion: This phone is really UGLY. :D
The incoming Treo 610 is much better looking device.

Oh, wherefore art thou, CDMA version?!?

I'm almost certain this won't be an option, and that burns my britches!

I am now boxing up a FREE with Rebate MPx200. I received it yesterday and HATE it! The photos were deceiving and I thought the unit would be clunky, but the screen size would be comparable to the T-Mobile PPC. Not so, this thing looks like a toy and is definitely not for PDA enthusiast.

I'm trying desperately not to do anymore impulsive buying but I haven't been able to use my PPC for weeks. All it's good for, at the moment, is the phone.

Also, didn't like the Plan AT&T had to offer. With T-Mobile, I had unlimited internet access.

That's funny. :razzing: I think the Treo is ugly. Just goes to show how different we all are. In my case I prefer Flip phones to candybars like the Treo. Probably why I think this looks good. I also think the 4350 is ugly, something about devices with thumboards I can see I guess. I wonder what Freud would say about that.

I agree that the MPx 200 isn't for the enthusiast. I have one, but never use it. You have to remember that the 200 is using the Smart Phone version of the OS, while, the MPx is using the Phone Edition of the WM OS. Smart Phone is just what you say - dumbed down, and not full featured. It really is intended to compete with other Mobile Phones, not PDA's, and if it had better battery life and bluetooth, I'd probably use it instead of my SE Z600. But in either case, I still need a PDA, too. Maybe the MPx will fill the gap, and I'll be able to live with just one device.

when you take a "smart" phone and put a "dumb" OS on it, it becomes a phone....we dont want a phone! We want THE MPX!!! Palm will always suck no matter how good they look (lets think....clie')

but any who....wut do you think will be the retail? 600???

This phone is bad ass. If there was a Sprint/CDMA version, life would be good. Oh well.

IF the MPx has the 850 GSM band (along with others), I will be all over this device like a cheap suit.

If the MPx does *not* have the 850 GSM band (as is rumored), my daily device will become an MPx 100 or 220 , both of which are MS Smartphones (and both are reported to have the 850 GSM band). My current Pocket PC would be demoted to in car GPS and more complicated databse use only.

I'd rather use the MPx, so here's hoping it has the 850 GSM band :worried:

Agreed again, only using much stronger language in regards to Sprint. Love the coverage...hate the lack of a decent PPC Phone or Smartphone.

My guess is most of us will be doing like Calvin in your Avatar when we hear the price. Weren't the rumors saying around $800.00 (unsubsized)?

DaleReeck

Since XDA II's sell very well at that price of $800, I would think MPX's will fly off the shelves despite that price as well.

If you look at the middle image on the top row. The 2nd entry down says...

"COME TO DADDY"

or is that just me?

Goodbye IPAQ hello Moto :)

2nd half of 2004...pretty please. Has anyone spoken to their Moto rep regarding price and availability?

I'm waaaay overdue for a new PPC and mobile phone and wasn't necessarily thinking of a two-in-one device but this looks really tempting!

Now add a 20-gig drive and :shocked!:! Just kidding...for now...

This was posted before, but you have to check out the thread on the MPX over at Howard Forums: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=394894&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 .

Regarding the look of this device, I have a hard time seeing how someone can describe it as ugly. There are some things that EVERYONE(assuming they are sane with at least decent vision) has to admit is an object of beauty. The Grand Canyon. The Aurora Borealis. The Motorola MPX.

I agree :D And you beat me to the url link. The Howard Forums (where I visit and contribute on a regular basis) is the best thread on the MPx anywhere.

According to the info found in that thread, Moto is planning on announcing the MPx sometime in September. We'll see.

It's supposed to sell for around $900.

I've had one on pre-order for quite some time now through Expansys and can't wait to get my hands on it!

900 $! 8O
I bet their customers will be mostly big companies.

I have NEVER cared for smartphones of any kind....

That is, until I saw this 8O

Personally PDAs out live the life of almost all my mobile phone contracts and carries which already makes my cell phone a disposable product seeing how each carrier practically forces me to buy a new phone.. But this device may just be the exception.

Kati - I find myself agreeing with you (again). I am really torn between the two extremes that the Motorola and the Asus/HP/Toshiba vga devices represent.

Like you, but for a different reason, I think the decision for also be taken out of my hands. I cannot see either of my preferred options coming in at a price point could justify. Damn.....

This is just a rumor at this point, and there's no official confirmation that will be the pricing for every country.
