I would like to know if there is any programs, freeware, that can make the Pocket Internet Explorer in the ppc to something like the Internet Explorer 6?

The main purpose why I want IE 6 is because using the Pocket Internet Explorer, I can't access to some websites like Yahoo! Mail...

I am also looking for a software that can make the Internet Explorer landscape for easy viewing so that I need not scroll the long toolbars so often.
Thanks! :D

If you only want freeware, check out RegKing (http://www.doctorce.com/regking.htm). It includes a registry tweak to spoof IE 6.

You can get a virtual display program like dotPocket (http://review.svpocketpc.com/dotpocket/dotPocket.html) (that links to my review) or Nyditot Virtual Dispaly (http://www.nyditot.com). If you don't mind soft resetting when you need to switch back to landscape, they may work for you.

I would be remise if I didn't mention the WM2003 SE update that allows landscape. When it gets released for HP devices is another story.

I tried RegKing, ran the tweak to imitate 5.5 or 6.0 and proceeded to get no further than I did before the tweak. Does it work ? I'm assuming it does....any idea's of what I may have done wrong ? Does this require PIE or can it be used on Netfront or PiePlus or other browsers ?

Did you soft reset the Pocket PC after applying the tweak? Many registry tweaks require a soft reset.

PIEPlus just modifies Pocket IE, so the tweak should work. However, it also allows changing the browser type without a separate tweaker.

As for other browsers, I doubt the tweak will work. However, I believe NetFront allows specifying the browser type, so it wouldn't need a tweak.

The new .Net version of Tweaks2k2 has hacks to allow both PIE and Net Front to spoof themselves as IE 6. What this doesn't do is add IE 6 capabilities if they don't exist in the PPC browsers. This will not solve problems encountered on sites with specific security features or scripting that cannot run on the pocket browsers natively.

No I did not soft reset and I wondered later on if I should have done that. Since then I started using Netfront and that has allowed me to use all web bank sites, except Capital One. For some reason that one doesn't work....I get an error message as soon as I press their login button. I don't know if Tweaks2K2 would help that or not. I may give it a try just to see if it works, but I wouldn't pay money just so I can access Capital One. I don't need reminders of how much is on my Visa card !!
