View Full Version : Alternative Email/PIM Clients?

With the growing popularity of Firefox, and my own fondness of Opera, I find myself wishing I could work with alternative email clients as well, at least on a trial basis. However, I feel bound to outlook because I don't know how else I'll keep info updated on my PPC.

I suppose honestly I don't use the email sync very often, more likely wait for emails to come in via sms and then dial up and check from the server directly to the ppc if I see something interesting. (using i700 on verizon)

Are there any alternative email or pim clients I can use with my PPC?

I know several people who have been very happy with nPOP.

let me rephrase the question. I'm wondering if it's possible to replace outlook on the desktop and still sync from mail/pim software to the ppc.

There are a few that programs like IntelliSync (http://www.intellisync.com/) support. However, I've found I prefer Outlook as a PIM, because Pocket Outlook corresponds so cleanly to it. So, I use Outlook as a PIM and a different program for email, and I'm very happy with the combination. For example, you can consider using Thunderbird as your email client. Address book sync is the one issue, and you might want to try a Google search on that; I'm not sure there's any way to sync Thunderbird's address book. In my case, my collection of email addresses stays largely separate from my Pocket PC/Outlook, which is a compromise I'm willing to accept.
