I have been thinking about getting either one of these, but the dell looks great. The problem is, is that I hear people having problems with dell. I am looking to buy a Pocket pc around 200-250. I was thinking of the h1940 cause its around that price range and its pretty reliable. What are your guys takes? I will be mainly using it for appointment dates, school, music, and a little bit of gaming. If there is another device better around the same price, please let me know. Any help is appreciated, thanx

Well, will you have access to WiFi networks anywhere? That might justify getting the midrange X30 over the HP h1940. Also, do you think you'll make use of the new features in WM 2003 Second Edition? There will not be a Second Edition upgrade available for the h1940. Keep those things in mind when you make your decision.

You should go with the dell without a doubt. The 1940 - although a good pda - is 6 or 8 months old I think and is too limited when compared to the dell. The dell has wifi (whether you need it or not), the newest of intel's processors, a normal headphone jack (instead of a 2.5mm one on the 1940), a high capacity battery option, extra buttons, the latest OS, etc. the only thing the 1940's got going for it is the form factor, but that's it. Again, dell without a doubt.

I'm actually in just the same position. I'm not always in a WiFi hotspot, and $200 for a refurb iPaq 1940 seems like a sweet deal. I'm highly interested in SNES emulation, too, which I understand the iPaq can do admirably, but the X30 can simply rock with.

On the other hand, some are complaining about button issues with the X30. :(

The 1940's way cheap nowadays seeing it was superseded ages ago by the 4xxx and 2215 models.

But if they were about the same price, I'd (for once) say go with the Dell. It's reliable, performs well and has a great feature set.
