I'm really excited about this release and had a chance to play with the beta a few days ago. I haven't used it much yet, but my initial impressions are mostly positive. The new icons are very well done, resulting in a much more polished overall experience. I use the desktop client at least 20 times a day (no exaggeration), and they seem to have fixed most of the UI glitches that were constantly frustrating me. Excellent! There are a whole whack of improvements including everything from high-resolution VGA support to enhanced speed on opening large FlexWallet files. My FlexWallet file has 225 cards in it and with the old version it took a good eight seconds for it to open. Now it takes about three - still about two seconds longer than I'd like, but a big improvement over the previous version.<br /><br />They're offering 75% the normal price of $24.99 for previous owners, so that's a fantastic deal - everyone should upgrade if they're using this app, the improvements are definitely worth $7.

I've also been waiting for this for awhile, and it was worth the wait (FW 2005 is that good).

The three best new featurs (IMO):
1) unrestricted template editing (even on templates that are already being used).
2) unlimited subfolders (previously there were no subfolders)
3) ability to run on MS Smartphone (sorry, I know this is the PPC site  )

The only way they could have made it better is record level syncronization, but this upgrade is definetely worthy.

:twak: You guys are *SO* nit-picky.

Any thoughts on FlexWallet itself?

It looks rather good and it's about time I stopped using Outlook to store passwords.

I really like Flexwallet. I was an old-time user of eWallet but lost it when I upgraded from my Ipaq to my Axim. Shortly after, I bought Flexwallet on special for $4.95. What a steal. The program is worth the $25 IMHO. Like Jason, I use the Desktop program daily and the PPC version often.

I am really looking forward to purchasing the upgrade. Unfortunately, I am waiting for Handango to send me a new $5 off promo code from their survey (as certain people posted the code on the net invalidating it for those that took the survey). As soon as they get that resolved, I am all over this upgrade. Hopefully, will be able to post some thoughts on it soon.

Of course, does the desktop version have a real sync utiliy or it's only a file ?
I currently have CodeWallet and I hate when I sync and it ask which of the desktop or the mobile version I should keep... I use that kind of software to stop using my brain, so I don't remember where I've made changes, if i've made changes... :?:

How strong is the encryption though? Is it unskilled-user strong, scriptkiddy-strong, industrial-strong or kgb-strong? 0X

Just remove "to store passwords" and you'll be right on the money.

Seriously, the UI looks GREAT. I think it's about time to switch from eWallet...

Here here! I'm very excited about those features as well, ESPECIALLY the forthcoming Smartphone version!

It's only a file. None of the digital wallet apps support record-level synchronization, which tells me it's mother-hard to implement it. :(

You can't stack coupons at Handango, which means you'll want to use the 75% off upgrade coupon on the FlexWallet site, which is more than $5 off. ;-)

What exactly are the main differences between Ewallet and Flexwallet? A big selling point for me is just the new version of Flexwallet since Ewallet hasn't been updated in about a year. But for those who've used both a lot, is Flexwallet just that much better? I just downloaded Ewallet a couple weeks ago and have been messing with that, so I really am curious.

Doug did an AWESOME article here:

Personally, I prefer FlexWallet above the others, especially with this new version.

Great! I'll pick up the new version as soon as I pay my credit card bill. :P

Just got it installed.
Now at times when i point and hold at the icon in each of the category, it display a non readable sub menu.
This also happens when i point at the "Wallet" and "Tools" icon but not the other icons on the bottom task bar.

I have reset it but it still occurs, anyone having this same problem, I am using a 2210.

Why does it look to me that noone is concerned with encryption strength?

Just because it is encrypted does not mean it is secure, you know. Your WiFi access point is encrypting the signal with 128 bit key, but in practice that can be cracked open within hours by any amateur :devilboy:.

I am concerned. If you wanted to get all passwords, creditcard numbers etc from a person - the flexwallet "wallet" file would be the most attractive file to crack open - since they are all in there, neatly categorized.

drifting away from encryption issues for a wee bit, is there no way to compact the .fw2 files on the device?

This program looks really good now. The template editor looks like it's incredibly easy to use, and I like how you can add subcategories. I'd switch myself, but I don't have the time to import all of my eWallet entries into flexwallet. I guess I'll be sticking with eWallet, but I hope Ilium will be tempted by competition to release an upgrade to eWallet! :)

Sorry to go off-topic, but what is that story? I also filled the survey, got the code, but when I tried to use it it said I used it already. I thought I must just have forgotten. How do I get a new code sent out?

The first one was withdrawn as some "enthuasitic" PPC people mentioned it on a forum or two. There is a thread about it on PPCT if you want the background. You should have been sent a second code that you could use that was personalised. Suggest you contact them if you haven't recieved the second email.

Back on topic - there was a data migration tool mentioned that would import data into FlexWallet. You can export from eWallet. Not on my home machine so can't check sorry if the 2 marry up, sorry.

I don't mean to encourage mis-use of coupons, but it appears that anyone can use that 75% off coupon for FW 2005, not just previous registered Flex Wallet users (which I am).

At least to me FW2005 seems much faster than the older version. I was never able to load up many passwords while it was in BETA, but since I've been able to import my older file, I think it is much more responsive. We'll see if this continues over the course of the next few weeks.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think Mel at Two Peaks knows that too - he's clever when it comes to driving sales at low price points... ;-)

Is the 75% off coupon still available? I didn't see it on twopeaks website or handango. I own v1.7 and would upgrade with the discount if I could find it. Anyone have a link? TIA

Ummm, what are you saying here? Are you saying that it appears to be ok to use the $7 price even if one doesn't own the previous version???????

I also don't mean to be dishonest.....

I'm not sure what you're asking here. All Jason and I were pointing out is that Two Peaks has published a coupon that anyone can use and called it a "upgrade discount for previous owners" (which it obviously isn't). When you use it, there is no verification whatsoever whether you're a previous owner or not. Use it how you wish, as no one will know the better.

I see that you can import and export templates. Does anyone have any good ones they would like to share? I would love to see what other kinds of stuff I can store in here.
