I posted the issue in the Mail 2.0 forum and did not receive a response: I can't send emails. I can send using the built in mail client on my ipaq 5555, but not with 2.0. I've played with all the outgoing settings with no luck. I'm sending emails through my web site where the host addresses (in & out) are the same.

I would buy this app today if I could only send emails.

Thanks,

Rob

Will this handle HTML emails?

1.0 does!! Remember this doesn't work with ActiveSync for HTML as ActiveSync parses out the html. If you are using POP or SMTP it will work for HTML.

Now this is what I have been waiting for!

Pocket Inbox has been driving me made for the last six months or so - especially with the way it manages (or doesn't manage :D ) IMAP accounts.

There are a few known connection issues with some servers still as we posted about in the Forums. For example Lotus Domino servers won't connect for some reason. We finally got a test Lotus Domino account on Monday and so our devs are working on it and when that's fixed we'll have an update with that fix.

But in any case, Mail 2.0 has some really really good logs. Best thing to do is to get those logs and put them in your support request to us - those will be sent to the engineers and we'll see what's wrong. The log filename is "WebISMail.log"

Can you synchronize it with Oulook Express and all his folders? (not
only the inbox/outbox folders)

Thanks

No way, shens! Comes out a year after WM2003 (nearly), but well worth the wait! I'm so excited! :D

..just don't tell me it's broke under WM2003SE and we have to wait for WM2004 to come out to have it fixed under WM2003SE. ;)

Whoo! Congrats Alex, we've all been rooting for this project for a long time. :D

It works under WM2003SE - I have it running on the Tosh. Its just not optimized for SE yet. But will be soon. That's far easier than the initial task of rewriting it ;)

In 1.0 HTML mail didn't fit in the body of the screen without side to side scrolling? Has that changed or been fixing?

If the images are imbedded into the body of the email, then WebIS Mail picks them up and works just fine. If, however the images are not imbedded and are acutally links to another server etc.. then WebIS Mail doesn't display those images. It will only display a red "X". This is a feature that I belive is going to be added in a future release.

I don´t think so. You can´t make HTML fit onto a smaller screen than the one it was supposed to be seen. That´s why web browsing is so bad at 320x240... and so cool at 640x480...

OK, thanks. Was thinking that technology used in browser add-ons like PIEPlus could be used to reduce it to screen size. Looks like a new PDA is in my future.

This is great! I can't wait to try it out. I think I've been waiting for this application to come out for months... :)

If the quality of this program is even just 90% as good as Pocket Informant, then it would be a steal at $25!

Sweet. I'm very excited about this, though $25 is a little steep.

I got the trial version and sending email via authenticated SMTP doesn't seem to be working. It keeps rejecting my login ID and/or password. Does anyone with Earthlink email have this working yet?

Great, I drop my email accounts down to 1 physical account (setup forwarders, etc..) just to be able to schedule downloads of mail reliably and Alex finally releases 2.0.... ugh.. ;)

Doesnt work on my 5555. emails are all blank. what am I missing?

Excellent! A few (minor) nitpicks though:

1) the inability to launch WebIS Mail via the default Inbox launchers (Start menu, Today plugin) similar to what PI does with the inbuilt PIM apps.

2) POP accounts have to be recreated in WebIS Mail, rather than having the settings imported from Inbox ar automatically recognized.

3) The recreated pop account(s) doesn't indicate the number of unread email in the Today screen Inbox item.

Once WebIS Mail's tie-ins with the ROM inbox meet the levels of PI's tie-ins with the ROM PIM apps, it will be the perfect PPC email solution.

I installed it on my ipaq 2215 to my SD card and also configured for all the messages and attachments to be stored on the SD card, and it runs slow. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Doesnt seem to work at all with active sync or my exchange server. Cant read any emails, only shows headers. Useless.

ctmagnus

iirc, it defaults to downloading headers only.

to get the whole message, go WebIS menu -> Services, select the service you want to change, tap Change, tap the Incoming Mail tab and select Headers and x KB of body. I set mine to 2KB and I get the relevant part of most email.

It wont let me change anything. That setting is grayed out for active sync/exchange.

That's because those instructions were for a pop server.

Yeah I kinda figured. But thanks though :)
Bummer, I was hoping I could use this a year after buying it lol.

Can't get mail to send via POP3 I can receive mail fine. I use my own domain for sending and receiving parked on a Linux Server running Apache 1.3.31-Unix. Sending doesn't work via GPRS or 802.11g at home. I have the settings set up just like a check it in Outlook2003. I posted this question on webis.net forums with few nibbles...

What be I doing wrong? <Bill Cosby>

Thanks,

The WebIS forums are curiously quiet. Maybe the developers are taking a short break before looking at issues.

Hope not! If people can't send mail why would they buy the product.
