<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16283' target='_blank'>http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16283</a><br /><br /></div>The Inquirer has been reporting from the Computex 2004 show in Taipei and has noticed that there were many wireless Pocket PCs on show: <br /><br /><i>"One company which the INQ hadn’t personally come across before was E-Ten Information Systems which has no fewer than three different models. Looking through them all they’re tri-band GSM products with the chief difference being processor power. Its P700 model utilises an Intel PXA255 400MHz processor whereas the P300 has an ARM9 200MHz and the P300B has a Samsung 2410 200MHz but boasts Bluetooth, of course." </i><br /><br /><i>"The INQ also collided with the MyPal A730 from Asus but that was first shown ages ago. So the real interest here eventually centred on the ST100 from AnexTEK Global. The sister model to the SP230 PDA, this was actually a Windows Smartphone for once. Coo. Some competition for the likes of the Orange SPV, eh?." </i><br /><br />So, more new devices coming along. The more the merrier. 8)

The P300B was on some websites last week (including Geekzone), and with some pointing out that it's a cheap alternative. What others fail to disclose is that it's cheap because it's 200MHz and the LCD is 4096 colours only!

I guess the P300B is a XDA 1 equivalent, while the P700 is a XDA II equivalent.

The P700 and P300 has been in the market for a few months now. The P300 is £350 sim free, so its cheap for a phone edition but still £100 more than a h4150. The P900 has a CF-I slot.

Well, FWIW... The P300B is still cheap even with some upgrades such as a bigger ROM, Bluetooth, what seems to be a bigger battery and WM2003SE. They did get rid of the camera which seems to be so useless as no one developed a commercially available software to take advantage of it.

Yep, still cheaper than other devices. I agree about the camera, really. Most mobile phones come with camera these days, but some people don't want that, at all. But still, 4096 colours. How much cheaper is this LCD compared with the standard 65k colours?

Makes me wonder too why they opted to stick with the same old screen...

It would have been really cool if they just went for a better screen...

the 4096 may be less of a point, the more being within the fact that we're talking here of a STN Screen..NOR TFT reflective, definitely NEITHER TFT reflective 4096 (like in older IPaqs...)...STN to whomever it does not ring any bells, may meen being completely useless outdoors...pretty strange...
