Just like the title says, the X30 is available for ordering from Dell USA (affiliate) and Dell Canada. The above URL will take you to the Software & Peripherals page, where you can click on the Handhelds & PDAs link to get to the X30. I couldn't find a way to create an affiliate link that goes directly to the X30 page, but if you use the above link to purchase an X30, you'll be supporting this site. Thank you!

Is it available on your local Dell Web site for your country? If so, post the URL in this thread!

8O The only thing stopping me from ordering is no new VGA screen. I recently had to replace my trusty old Palm VX and am very impressed with the Tungsten screens.

It makes my Axim screen look terrible.

A VGA screen will cause me to look to replace my trusty Axim X5

AHHHH, now do I show some patience and wait for the iPAQ hx4700 with 4" display and huge 128MB RAM, not to mention the dual slots, and pay about $200 more? The X30 is tempting, but I do think I'll wait a couple months for the whole shebang.

I'm still using an Audiovox Maestro 1032C (Toshiba). I haven't been keeping up with the PDA community as I should I guess but isn't Microsoft going to release a new version of Windows Mobile this year? I heard that somewhere and I'd hate to buy something now and then that happen because from what I was told it won't be a minor upgrade but will be like the difference between Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

For that price I'd buy the X30 right away.. but unfortunately it hasn't been released on the German website yet, and it will certainly be more expensive than in the US as usual..
The X3i (BT/WiFi) costs 380 Euros here, that's over $450..

What's the deal where Dell can't have a unique model number/name for each model? I thought the X5 basic/advanced mixup was bad, but now we have three distinct X30 models, with no simple differentiator.

Right, but that's not an affiliate link, now is it. ;-) I knew someone wouldn't read what I wrote and post a link anyway...

Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition is the new version of the OS.

I agree completely! I wish they would have called it the X30, X35 and X37 or something similar. It makes peer to peer support more difficult too because now the first question we have to ask is "Ok, WHICH X30 do you have?"

I really wish they were offering a VGA version even at a higher cost, like another poster mentioned, 624MHz is nice but at this stage I'm not sure it compels me like the increased resolution. CPU power does not make a dramatic difference on the apps I use everyday outside of video viewing. The real bump for the platform at this point is the increased resolution and that's what I will hold out for.

No doubt though, $350 is a great price for dual wireless and that type of CPU power in a handheld.

Remember 4 years ago when people were paying more than retail price for iPaqs with dusty screens, 32MB RAM, no wireless, no built expansion slot (!), no removable battery and were happy about it? Amazing.

You are sooo right! I remember the dust, the milky screen, and the one button at a time pushability. I was still thrilled! Oh how times have changed. :)

i had a palm m125 for 7 months. 33mhz, 120x120 b&w, no speaker, no sdio,no wireless other than irda 8mb. I paid $249 for it. U can get a 64mb , dual wireless, 312mhz for the same price.

am i the only one here disappointed that this device doesn't have a CF slot? there's no way I'd buy a PPC without one after investing money into several CF cards for my digital camera.

Dell is pretty annoying with how they try to get you to add tons of accessories for high prices, hoping the final bill will be around the $600 range.

besides my rants, nice overall specs and base price.

Any insight when these might actually be available? The usual Dell shipping guesstimate says 'Unavailable', like they are not even ready to commit to a date. Maybe they just want to make sure you have the opportunity to pre-order theirs, before yu can pre-order someone elses :)

Don't Panic!

I'm an early adopter but as much as I'd like to be one of the first to try out the new operating system I too am holding out for a device with a CF slot. I've got to much invested in that format just to kick it aside. Where would I plug in my Eops TV Tuner?

Don't Panic!

Seriously HP has been selling devices no where near this for about $550 who will ever think the sony clies are worth the $750 they were charging. Now all dell has to do is make a pocket pc phone and I would be entirely owned by DELL. I love the new dell X30 i might have to look at blue tooth phone just because this device came out. Seriously i have loved my pocket pc phone combo, but with this kind of power and price. It might be worth switching to dual devices just because it is so amazing. I am also glad to see some people finally admitting that all of the 400mhz xscales just weren't faster at all than the 206 mhz. We hadn't seen any speed progress since the first pocket pcs really until now. I am extremely excited!

The Dell PR person told me that the versions with the 312 MHz processor will begin shipping later this week. The one with the 624 MHz processor will be available June 2.

No wonder Dell doesn't want to sell me an upgrade to Windows Mobile SE for my X5...they'd much rather me buy one of their shiny new devices. That may be a sound business decision but to Dell I say BITE ME  And yes...I am bitter about it .

I'm pi$$ed too.... My X5 with it's CF slot is perfectly adequate for me at this time. I willingly paid $30 to upgrade to Windows Mobile and wish to do the
same with Windows Mobile SE... No technical reason, just dumb "BOTTOM LINE" Decisions on DELL's part .... Planned obsolescence anywone???

Yup. I am *really* not pleased with Dell about this. If their non-upgrade stance for current shipping devices does not change, then I doubt I'll own or recommend another Dell PPC. :|

They could make a profit on the upgrade and tide us over till they release their X7 or X70 or whatever they call their high end dual slotted VGA unit (which they really should produce!).

:D Man, I wish I was a reviewer! That way I could play with all the new technology without breaking the bank! I have a 4155 and it is the most underused gadget I own  I would love to have a 600Mhz+ X30 or Ipaq, but I don't really NEED a PDA. I am so pathetic...carrying around a $450 PDA (with Aluminum Rhinoskin case) just to remind me of when I 'used' to work on PC's and feel important. Now I'm just a lowly Termite Tech :<.

Allow me to jump on the VGA bandwagon. The high-end unit looks great, especially since I am about to jump from Sprint to a TMo BT phone, but with VGA right around the corner I will make do with my X5. I'd like CF slots, too, but I would give up on that if I could have a 4" VGA plus all the other junk that the new 624MHz unit has.

I was hoping to hold out for a vga device, but my 4155 ipaq died today. For 350$ with more everything then my 4155, I couldn't resist. Just placed my orded with dell a couple hours ago!

I would like to see it with VGA quality screens. But at the same time my current Dell Axim X5 doesn't have it. So I don't know what I am missing out on.

They would have to offer at a minimum what my pocket PC has right now. That means it would also have to have a compact flash card. Until then Dell won't be getting anymore money from me.
