Anyone know of a CF card which works on a MIPs processor and Palm PC? This is somewhat humorous, but it makes a good test device.

Very appropriate SUBJECT

In any case there are Type I and Type II CF cards. If your device has a Type II slot then it will accept BOTH Type I and Type II cards. If it is Type I then it will ONLY accept Type I cards. Other than this the only possible reason why a particular Compact Flash card shouldn't work (at least for flash memory cards) would be associated with the timing.

My PDA (an old true blue hp Jornada 568) works with every CF flash card (Type I only) that I have tried whereas my Canon PowerShot S40 camera ONLY works 100 % reliable when used with SanDisk CF memory cards (NOT the Ultra version although I haven't even tried these). I tried four (4) other brands of CF memory cards in the camera and there were ALWAYS some problems with lost data, but NEVER with a SanDisk card! That is why I now have a 1 GB SanDisk CF card and a 128 MB SanDisk CF card (for emergencies) for the camera.

What is it you REALLY want to know? :devilboy:

thanks,

I should be more specific, i am trying to find a 802.11b cf card for an E-11.

possible ones:

zcom.com (one of the 1st)
symbol's wireless networker (built for pocket pc but the did a MIPS version.

This device is so early that it was EOL'ed before these cards were out. In particular since it is Palm PC.

Have you tried just asking the WiFi card manufacturers if they'd work? As long as the driver software works, I'd think the card would work. However, if the driver software requires something in Windows CE 3.0 or the Pocket PC OS, they probably won't work.

Oh my GOD... ONLY 8 MB of memory!!

Why don't you be the first one on the block to buy an ASUS MyPal 730 (http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/4756.html). Then you won't need a WiFi card and have an extra 120 MB of memory to boot!!

Plus a camera, plus BlueTooth, plus VGA 3.7" 480 x 640 screen, etcetera...

The ZCOM card says it runs on CE 2.12, which is kind of a misnomer since that is the platform build release i believe. I have never seen a CE 2.12 device before...

Anyway this is for testing purposes. I have a few other devices around to run on; Ipaq5555, Casio-115, NEC. Those new Dells with built-in WiFi look good at around $320 a pop!

Come on -- it's an old device. I still have an Apple II+ somewhere with 64 K of memory. :-D

The article you cited didn't mention WiFi or Bluetooth. However, this one (http://pcmag.shopping.com/xPF-Asustek_MyPal_A730) does. So does it have them or not? If it does, along with a 1.3 megapixel camera, two Compact Flash slots and an SDIO slot, that will be one killer Pocket PC (even though it is kind of ugly).

For my Casio E-125, I still use my Linksys Wireless CF card, model #WCF11. The included driver installs 1,2,3. For the Pocketpc 2002/2003, the drivers are on their website.

I do not know if it is Palm compatible, but good luck.

According to Asus' own literature, it does. (http://www.bargainpda.com/default.asp?newsID=1958) 8)

And the camera has a flash, too. 8O Sounds like a killer product -- if it's ever available in the U.S.

Anyway, I think we should get back to the original topic of the thread.

CE version 2.12 was the first color screens. The driver for that version should work with palm ce 2.0
