Hello All,

I used to use the flash Subway map but since all the new line changes here it is all but useless. For several months I have been carelessly looking for a replacement without any success.

Today I created a .gif file of the online map and realized that it is more than handy to have around. The Pictures app on the PPC is great for navigating the map.

Anyways, enough rambling, the image appears below and you can download and save it to your device.

Enjoy

it's free, it supports over 200 cities (i think more than that actually) and it's in a lot of languages.

Sadly, I no longer need this program, but I was always a big fan of Visual IT's Tube software. I especially liked it because you could tell it where you were, where you wanted to go and it would do a little follow the bouncing ball route for you.

Also, Vindigo is pretty good for giving subway directions. Of course, neither of these beats the free price tag of the above "program" but I always found scrolling around oversized pictures on the PPC screen to be an unwelcome comlication in an already (sometimes) stressful attempt to navigate a city.

Or, in my case, I use Tube Pro (http://www.visualit.co.uk/tubenycpro.htm). Not only does it have a good subway map, it has a great midtown-to-downtown Manhattan street map -- better than the one Pocket Streets has. It's not free, although they do have a "regular" Tube version which is cheaper. I'm very happy with it.

Edit: D'oh! Brian beat me to it! Darn you, Brian... ;)

Wow. If I still lived near Chicago I'd probably pick up a copy of the Tube. That's cool. I like the integration with the street maps in the PRO version! It's a bit too expensive for me to get for my 2-day trip to NYC coming up, though.

Sorry Janak. Slow day at work (not really, but I'm taking it slow) 8O

Kati, I think the demo works for 3 days...just long enough

Heh. :) That's okay - I'll have my own personal tour guide with me who knows the map. ;)

You could have started your own thread. ;) Did you manage OK through the subways?

We managed well enough. Actually, we have friends there that lead us around for a lot of the time, though we were left to fend for ourselves occasionally.

The most confusing things were the late night/construction route changes.

Ah, yes. Of course, none of the remedies mentioned above would have helped with that. ;)
