It supports all three versions of the Pocket PC OS. If you aren't happy with your existing players, you might want to give this program a spin. :)

While the 2.0 designation implies a major update there is only a minor change added from the previous version. Apparently this change only affects the echo/reverb option.

Thanks for the heads-up. :) Even though it's a minor change, it's worth posting on every now and then...

It works brilliantly for shoutcast streams - the quality is excellent. The http://www.shoutcast.com/ site is a bit unfriendly to pocket IE when searching for radio stations (lots of scrollbar fun), so what we need is a pocket version of the list of stations... anyone know of any? I guess I could make one if there isn't one already and there's enough interest!

What I really want is a media player that has "seek to position" capabilities. I typically record radio-show broadcasts that are several hours long, and any scrollbar-based system just isn't practical when that bar is representing that amount of time. Skipping commercials becomes a chore, since the minimum movement of the scrollbar means several dozen seconds, if not more.

Does anyone know of a good media player for PocketPC that supports a "seek to position" function?

Pocket Player 2.5 has "seek to marker" which I believe will do want you want.

I would highly, highly recommend this product. I actually bought both PocketMusic and PocketPlayer and I have had issues with both of them. GSPlayer has been "perfect" for me. You can get some really cool skins 9 http://www.gsplayer-skins.tk/ )for it also that make it look much nicer than the default look.

Here is what I have been doing in the respect of music for the pocket pc...

I bought 2 memory cards (256MB SD and a 256MB CF). I also bought a external 80 GB Western Digital hard drive to store the music. I ripped about 300 CDs into WMA 9 format because it has the lossless feature. I then ripped the WMA's to Ogg 64 bitrate music files. I can fit about 250 - 270 music files on my storage cards on my 2215 and they play perfect and sound great using GSPlayer. I use CEPlaylist to sort my music and it will send the playlist directly to GSPlayer. The other players would skip and do some funny things that was quite annoying.

Enjoy!

It's a great program and it's free. But to my ears, the decoder is not as good as either pocketmusic's or pocket player......the sound is duller, more constricted, and has a slightly synthetic quality. The effects options only make it worse. (I can only speak for the mp3 playback, playing LAME encoded CDs or shoutcast broadcasts.) On the positive side, other than being free!, it uses less processing power than the others, and I find pocketmusic causes hangups on my system sometimes.

Personally I prefer PocketMusic. It sounds better and I like cross-fading on my music. It takes so much more resources however hence I only use PocketMusic when I am not using my Pocket PC for other tasks (such as sitting in the train trying sleeping or playing it over an external speaker).

In GSPlayer, you can map h/w buttons to FF/REW. Each press skips about 5 sec I believe. Good way to skip commercials.

I've made another skin :D

This skin has pretty much the same button sizes and shapes as cleangrey. I wanted to how it would look like without the images. also I used only two colors :D

If Someone desires to see more color version of this skin(like red  ), drop me an email.

2.02 was released today for those who like to keep up to date.

I really like pocketmusic for normal playing as it sounds good, and looks fantastic with a winamp2 skin. How ever it totaly honks out if a shoutcast stream dies out on it. Usually if a stream dies, any attempt to revive it (pressing play/pause or stop) locks the pda up. GSplayer on the other hand handels shoutcast smoothly and dosnt flinch if a stream dies.. that said, i wish I could get ahold of the author and request a more agressive retry scheme. %90 of the time a stream dies, its the one connection between us, and connect again restarts it instantly. how ever the player only retries once, and if it cant connect, it stops and does nothing. Saddly this means keeping the pda out somewhere opened up ready for manual intervention (pressing the play button) rather then keeping it in its case in my pocket. Oh yea, a record button would also make this perfect.
